Disclaimer: I have no personal experience with The Judge, but that won't prevent me from expressing my opinion.

IMO, the problem with "The Judge" is that it tries to be too many things, so it doesn't excel at anything. It is too big to be readily concealable. If you want the capacity and power of a .45, then get a 1911. If you want the fire power of a shotgun, get a 12 gauge.

I would not be so concerned about what the BG thinks when he sees "The Judge" pointed at him. I would be concerned what I would be thinking after I had expended all six rounds and saw that he was still a threat. That would scare the dickens out of me.

Well, as I said, I have allways been a 410 fan, I own a little H&R snake charmer I love. I am sure you are all right but I have a hank-er-in for this handgun and I am buying one.

As for the effectiveness of a 410 at close range (up to 10 foot) I don't think anyone would want to argue with me. Besides I am moving into that GEEZER age and can buy buy something just because I like it--LOL

Don't own one or ever shot one. It does seem to me that if you're looking for a shotgun, get a 20ga or 12ga with a short barrel and add a pistol grip. More firepower and I'd guess alot easier to handle.

Not sure if I'd like to off-hand a 410 shotgun that small. Shells ain't cheap either.

ha, as if 4.5" of penetration isnt going to hurt.

Good for you! I look forward to reading your review. I too enjoy my 410, but I like my 20 gauge when it comes to trap or skeet!

KB, That depends on where the 4.5 inches penetration happens--LOL

The review in queston is the only review that came up with poor results, whats more, the guy said at the begining he didn't like the Judge and olny reviewed it because he was asked to.

It is really a moot question, in my mind, the lack of penetration is more than overcome by the fact you don't have to be shooting dead on target to get an impact. If you load a long colt round after the 410, I am sure penetration will not be a issue.

I have not a doubt a 12 guage shotgun would be a better choice. The problem is finding a draw holster for one--LOL

Ok I have one and I will tell ya what I have learned about it. I bought the judge 3" bbl about 6 months ago. I got it for in the house protection. The reason at the time was that the shotgun pellets would not be to much of a problem going through the walls into the other rooms. Go figure?? Now that I have it here is my two cents worth. At about 30feet it will put a .45lc fmj through a 2x4 like slicing butter. When using shotgun shells I have found a few things. The shot rapidly dispurses, I mean rapidly! First I tried #8 shot and found that after firing a round or two you could not get the spent shell out of the chamber unless you pried it out. Ok, next I tried a #7.5 I think.It worked and fired like a champ each time. Next went to #4shot and again no problems.Next tried 000 buck shot. again no problems. For home protection I keep 000 buck shot chambered in it and it is not my main tool. That would be my trusty 1911. But it is fun to shoot and makes one hellllllllo of a bang when using the shotgun shells. Plug you ears!! Got a good kick also, but I can handle it. Just my thoughts, not a lawyer and this is not legal advice. Be careful shoot safe.

If you're willing to go through the hassle of a Class III app, and to pay the $5 for the AOW stamp, this would likely be a much more effective alternative:

Keep in mind that you would need to keep a copy of your Class III stamp paperwork with it at all times, but I'm sure you could laminate it and fold it up in your pocket if you wanted.

Yeah, you might stop them if you hit them in the eyes. That's about the only place I'd be willing to count on.

Wow--I can't believe anyone steped up and ADMITED owning one--LOL Thanks My04! Did you buy the model that shoots the 3 inch 410 shells? Would you recmend the 3 inch or the 6 inch barrel? Could you tell me what kind of place you bought yours from? What would you say the penitration would be at 10 foot with that 000 buck? I don't understand why the #8 shells would not eject, was it the shells or a problem with the Judge? O and one more thing, do you wish you hadn't bought it?
