carry without CHL

One question (I couldn't find in my lame attempt at a search): I understand that per the motor vehicle whatever law, you are allowed to carry in your car w/o a CHL as long as the weapon is concealed. And you are allowed to carry to/from the car / house. My question is, can you be busted for failure to conceal on the way to/from the car. Not that I'd be waving it around, but if you pull it out from the door pocket or under the seat and are walking in with that and a bag and someone were to see it, are you at risk?
