Today was kinda a subdued day for me...

I went to a VA services expo last year down at the College of the Mainland and got some neat little trinkets from some of the exhibits there...One was a mini folded flag in a wooden triangular display case with some printed contact numbers on the back for the VA...I thought it was kinda neat and got a couple for some other veterans I work with...We all have them and a nice flag displayed in our offices where we work now...

Our affiliation is generally known to some others we work with, yet nothing was said or done today to recognize or rememeber those other veterans who gave it all for us...

Maybe we should have said something, or just done somethig ourselves without company sanction...

But to me, it is a humbling condition to be in...I feel more comfortable writing this than talking about it...

But...My day cheered up tremendously when my wife called me this morning, thanking me for what I did...I told her to make sure she goes around and thank the others she knows about where she works as well...I never expected the call, and I was embarrased that I didn't get something together for the folks in the company to remember this day...Next year will be different, if nothing more than a few of us get together and toast those that have served, and are now serving, and those most importantly who we lost in the defense of this country...

So I want to thank the others who served here as well, and those who supported them in their service to this country...

Freedom is not free, and we need good folks coming behind us to carry the torch...

Every year I make it a point to thank every veteran I know. For the ones on this forum, thank you.

Vets,

You can add Applebees to your list of enterprises honoring your service today. I guarantee it will be better than Meals Rejected by Ethiopians.

And Home Depot is offering the 10% again this year, this time worded correctly right from the get go.

This year we have a poster up in our store which has the various veterans' pictures posted - boy were we young. One of my co-workers came over and told me "You were HOT!" I thanked her for the sentiment, but did wonder about the "were" part.

Thank you for your service, my brothers.

Yeah, I think I have gone from hot to luke-warm, now to cool. LOL

Although I never served in the military, my Dad and both of my brothers did. Dad was during WWII. One brother served for 23 years and one for 10. I have two nephews currently serving in the Army and Air Force respectively. One will be back from Iraq in a couple of weeks to be with his wife for the birth of their son! :hurry:

And a BIG thank you to all of the past and present veterans who have served to protect our country and way of life! :patriot:

They should at the least see your Inner Beauty.

To all who have served, God Bless You All. :patriot:

To those that didn't make it back: The Lord be with Thee and me, while we are away, one from another. Amen.
