I would have been inclined to agree with you (though for somewhat different reasons); however, we've now had several days for follow-up stories to appear. All of those that I could find on the net support the accuracy of the original story, including two or three interviews with the father of the four-year-old. I think that if there were any questions about what really happened, the father would not be so accepting of it, since he's the person most likely to suffer from this.
