Actually, I don't think any shooting doesn't go before a grand jury. But some go before the grand jury with no recommendation for an indictment. DA's don't like to be accused of sweeping things under the rug by the people they're running against in the next election cycle .

Can the CHL sue the BG's family for the court costs / emotional distress?

If there really are no witnesses, are you better off just sprinkling some coke on the body and walking off?

Sure you can sue anyone for anything, whether it flies or not is another thing (actually you'd sue the estate, the parents if the scum bag is a minor).

One other question, how does soda help?

I apologize, I did not think it was confidential and someone else local was wondering about the same thing. As attorneys I would think that their contact info would be available publicly and would welcome other CHL clients. However I am regretful that I did not ask if I could share your PM with the rest of the interested parties.

I will freely admit I haven't met them all. but I've known my share of 'em, and I never met a lawyer that didn't enjoy getting his name out to the public.

I think you would be better served by getting a good criminal lawyer period. Don't worry as much about the CHL issues. Craig Jett is a top of the line defense lawyer. He won't be cheap.

There have been fewer than 10 prosecutions of CHL holders for self-defense shootings since 1995. I can name only three. All were acquitted.

No lawyer has a record in this area, except the attorneys for those defendants.

(A couple of CHL holders committed outright murders, which has nothing to do with CHL or self defense.)

I, too, have frequently heard it said, 'that there is no such thing as bad publicity'. You reckon these guys have their names in the phone book; perhaps, even in the Yellow Pages?
