My son drives a 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with the cop motor, chassis, etc. He added one of those K&N cold air intake systems to his; plus he added a throttle body spacer, and some Flowmasters. It's not quite the power of your car, but pretty respectable none-the-less - enough to keep a 19 year old kid happy until he can afford some more. It's not an old black and white, but a detective's car purchased with fairly low miles (for a cop car) and in very good condition from a small town police agency in Illinois. And since it still has the blacked out grill and the spotlights, most other motorists take it for a police cruiser, and they mysteriously start doing things like using their TURN SIGNALS!!! and not cutting you off in traffic. The only down side is that whenever you get behind someone, they slow down, which can be aggravating.

Anyway, it is remarkable how much those kinds of fairly simple bolt on modifications can improve a car's power output.

You can save a lot on that oil change by doing it yourself. I used to use synthetic oil in my Dodge Diesel. Even then it cost me around 60 to do it myself and that thing used a lot of oil. Also with using synthetics you should be able to get a lot more oil life than 3000 miles. I used to change it in my diesel every 10k. Now in my gassers with conventional oil I change it every 4000 miles. If I was using synthetics I would bump that to 6k. I understand that the 6.1 is a high performance engine but I think it would handel it just fine.

I have been informed by not only Dealers but by people on a Dodge SRT forum that you have to maintain the schedule or kiss your warranties goodbye.

Well I can understand and appreciate that. I will however add that I was never thrilled with any of the Dodges I had warranty wise. I had a 2001 Dodge diesel that just gave me the fits from day one. From the factrory it had a bad fuel transfer pump and the dealer kept saying that it was ok. I finally went to an independant mecahnic who told me it was bad, and showed me the proof, then i went back to the stealership and they said "ok" and changed it. Another issue I had was with the automatic transmission. At idle the truck would just lurch forward. I took it to the dealership for that oooooh about five stinkin' times! The response was always the same "We can't find the problem." One time the service rep actually told me "there seems to be a problem but we can't find it so here are you keys back." Oh by the way 2k miles out of warranty on that one they found the problems. A bad trans control module. I fought tooth and nail and made them pull up the files. THe manager of the dealership said that he actually couldn't help me even though he new something was wrong with how they were testing the truck before. Something about their mechanic for diesels being new. Anyway he goes onto say he can make me just a smoking hot deal ona new truck since this one seems to be a lemon. In his defense he really did give me a good deal and got me 0% financing even though I was 21 with little to no credit. Anyway that truck my brother still drives but it has also had fuel pump problems (most all Dodge diesels do!).

ANYhow to be honest I don't trust anyones warranty and never ever by an extended one. I have found they will fix as little as possible. Often if it's something minor they will say "we can't find it doing anything wrong". This is not exclusive to Dodge either. I have owned Chevys and GMCs, then Dodges, then another GMC, then a Chevy, then I had two Chevrolet company trucks, and now a Ford. I also have a 1984 Toyota FJ-60 but of course it is long out of warranty. I still get those stupid letters though asking me if I want to buy a warranty. I guess they figured out a way to see who is titling vehicles or something and send them junk mail.

By the way if you are in the Houston area and want to go to a IDPA or IPSC match let me know! My plan shall be to ride with you, buy you mass amounts of drinks until you are unable to drive, and then offer my conservative driving services to get you and that really bad, way-too-fast car home !!! After the match of course!

Gregthehand, I don't have a Hemi, just a Pontiac GTO with a 6.0 LS2 in it... is that enough to qualify for you're conservative driving services / free drinks offer?

Hehe, not me. I live a couple hours from there and rarely visit.

Does this GTO got loud exhaust and big wheels on it with a young guy drivin. If it is he got beat by a dually with a diesel from a 30 roll on 1960 one evening . Followed us into sonic and proceeded to whine cause he got beat by a FORD . He really whined when he found out the truck has 206000miles on the motor .He then picked a race with a FORD 4x4 diesel which beat him worse not to mention filling his car with black smoke.

I don't know, since I never take him up on his offer to race. Your description sounds like him, but then again, it sounds like alot of folks that want to race...
