Actually, I'm planning on installing a CB in my truck after I get done with all the other modifications I have planned.
Primary reason is so I can get traffic reports from truckers when out on the road and maybe some directions
if I get lost (rare since I use the latest maps) and it would come in handy if you needed assistance in an
area where there's no cell phone service.
A big plus is that I'm also going to utilize the PA system capabilities that come with having a CB radio.
Nothing like saying something over the PA and then looking all around as if to say "hey! Who said that",
and "Where did that come from?"

Anyplace on an official state of Texas website that says this?
I'd like to find that and print it off of an official site just for my own records.

The exemption is directly stated in 46.02 (UCW)
http://tlo2.tlc.state.tx.us/statutes/do ... m#46.02.00
But like Russel says it's common knowledge.

Wow! That's a very long document...
What section says it's OK to carry in youre vehicle without being
required to have a CHP?

Section 46.02 (the same section that says it's illegal to carry)
Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or
(2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control.

OK, now you're confusing me...
Where/why does it say it's "illegal to carry"?
In what context are speaking?

Looks like Sec. 46.03 subsection 5:F limts places where even CHL folks can carry.
It mentions places such as schools, airports, etc
What do you CHL guys do to make sure you don't carry in a place
that doesn't allow handguns of any kind, CHL or not?

No, and I'm not going to either.
(Don't want to have a paper trail concerning me having any firearms)
I was just reading through there and noticed it says there
are certain places that even a CHL cannot carry.
Yes, in the vehicle...I'm going to have a custom built safe box
with a combo lock on it to protect the firearm and to keep any
LEOs out of it in the event I run across one that doesn't know
it's legal for me to carry in my truck without a CHL
They will need a search warrant to get into the box, which
they will have a hard time obtaining because I'm not a law
breaker so they won't be any probable cause

Know the law.
