I believe Senator Harris (district 9) is on our side (as I voted for him), and his office said that they believe he is in support of this bill.
as an aside, the nice lady (tina) that I spoke to was very friendly, professional, and wonderful to speak to.

I spoke to one of Florence Shapiro's aides today and she still doesn't have an official position on the bill. I let her aide know that I felt she should support the bill.

I wrote an article on the new parking lot bills for Texas,
Texas Legislature Considers New Gun Rights, which (hopefully) will help more folks get informed and involved to ensure that these bills pass. Driving back and forth to work 'naked' ain't no fun.

Short, sweet, to the point. I like it. But then again, I'm sure I'm biased.

Senator Duncan is "undecided" per his Austin office as of Thursday morning 2/19/2009. The staffer said he expects to make a decision within a week or two. Very disappointing answer, the positive spin I guess would be that he just hasn't looked at it yet... time for a letter.
Edit to Add: Rep. Isett supports the house version, 1301. I am sending a letter thanking him for his support.

The aide I spoke with actually stated Sen. Shapiro currently would like to leave it up the employers at present, but that might change depending on how many more of her constituents contact her. SOOOOOOOO, PLEASE call your senators and representatives on the two bills. The more calls they get asking for support, the more likely they are to swing to our side.

That really gets me steamed. Our representative should be concerned with their individual constituent's rights first, corporations second. Sounds like her priorities are backwards.

Senator Shapiro has an excellent pro-gun voting record. The problem with employer parking lots is that it pits friends against friends. People who support gun owners rights are the same people who value private property rights and the people who tend to support the business community. This issue truly puts "brother against brother."

I think that it is really important to emphasize in correspondence with the reps the bullet point items that Charles listed at the beginning of this thread. Basically what this bill does NOT do. Those are important to business owners.
