Simply put, the way groups like the Brady Bunch and their kind want to "solve" this problem is to eliminate private sales, ban "Assault Weapons". Of course that will still leave weapons available (Like that 22 short that was mentioned) so they will also need to be banned. Eventually confiscation will have to happen and then weapons will have to be smuggled into both countries so their criminals can be armed.

I think that some of the anti propaganda has infiltrated your brain and you're getting wrapped around the axle about gun sales because of the emotion surrounding the word "gun." Of all the myriad inanimate objects that can be used as a tool to kill someone, only guns have a ridiculous amount of media-generated emotional baggage attached to them. Why does no one worry about bricks, hammers, clotheslines or pillows - all of which have been used as murder weapons - falling into the wrong hands?

No I'll tell you what's wrapped around my brain is regard for our citizenry, and amusement at that post of yours. I love when folks take a mammoth stretch from the crux of a subject to attempt to seem compelling . Re-read the very first post here, it indicates my own participation in the fun and fare of buying and selling the pop-pops here and there. I dont really see the point of arguing. I didnt read anything about taking away rights ( though this subject will probably be used to attempt such things ).. The only thing I read is someone drawing attention that guns from the US are being smuggled into Mexico.. I think we would all agree that something needs to be done about that, but I never saw anything about taking rights away to do that..

The only relevant post to the subject I saw was that the Border Patrol should do whatever it takes to make sure things like this dont happen, it is their job after all.. The people being paid to complete these transactions and smuggling the firearms to Mexico need to be put in front of a firing line. Either way, Mexican Cartels will get firearms, but it looks bad if they are getting them from us, and it needs to stop.. It just gives the Anti's more ammunition to take our rights away because of what other people are doing.. Instead of getting defensive about it, it would look much better for our cause if we worked to find a way to stop and prevent this from happening.

I read an article today about Mexico's cartel violence. Of the two examples given, neither involved a gun. One involved a circular saw sold at Home Depot. The other involved an injection of acid. Again, both are readily available.
The problem is with the people committing the crimes, not the tools used. When the subject is brought up in our communities, we need to be vocal about this.

Mr. Bunkins was perfectly, exactly dead on with his post. And for benefit of concurring with the point of focusing on the actors and not the props, I'll also ask that anyone selling a skilsaw or an injection of acid on craigslist or the classifieds apply the same degree of scrutiny to the buyer and his/her potential downstream end users. As Mr. Bunkins said, we don't have anything to argue about here unless it's just for the sake of arguing.
