TV sets and monitors used to have brightness and contrast knobs on the back. I worked with a guy who for some reason annoyed me. One time I went to ask him about something, and I turned down the brightness on his monitor all the way down when he wasn't looking.
He turned back to the monitor, swore, turned it off and back on, hit the top of it with his fist, etc. Then I turned the brightness back up, thanked him for whatever I was asking about, and left.
I don't think he ever figured out what happened.

LOL. Don't forget the vertical hold control as well.
I remember my dad once told me to quit using the aluminum foil for beef that was going in the freezer and to use butcher paper instead. He told me foil was for rabbit, not beef. Of course that confused me because we never had rabbit, then one day I heard him refer to the TV antennae as 'rabbit ears' and it all made sense...

I think most hams have had one of those at one time or another, I had a blast with mine.Keith B wrote:Reminds me of the little X-band radar transmitter I have. It was a blast to be driving down the highway and have someone come flying by me with a radar detector on their dash. Hit the button and watch the car do a nosedive. There even used to be a point system where you could keep score if you got them to brake multiple times, change lanes, etc. It was negative points if you caused them to get into an accident though.

The only problem now is most detectors allow you to turn off different bands as many automatic door openers use X or K band and most departments use either K, Ka band radar guns or Lidar. However, I have seen a few of the little small rural departments buying refurbished X-band guns now as they can get them cheap and if you have X turned off on your detector, you will fall victim to their trap.
A group of hams that I used to hang out with went to Dayton a few years back and one of them bought one of the latest technology radar jammers that was supposed to spoof the radar into showing that you were doing a different speed. The group drove back from Dayton doing 75 to 80 the whole way and arrived home without incident, until they got off the highway, and the driver was busted for 55 in a 40 zone. They forgot to turn it off.
