“This was the first time he has ever been late for his curfew,” said Lynn Sturgill, interviewed Sunday night in front of her Kenna Drive house, less than half a mile from Irmo High. “He’s a good kid.”

Yep...good kid...

They all are... :leaving

Sturgill asked people not to judge his son on this incident. “He made one wrong decision. I guess he paid the ultimate price.”

That comment by the dad seems so nonchalant, so, oh well my son's dead.

I hope the apology does not lead to a civil suit.

I find that it is kinda funny that they even measure how far you attempt to retreat before you stand your ground. Very obviously self-defense.

This is Texas, of course it won't.

“This sends a loud message to the criminal element — you don’t know who’s going to be armed and who’s not going to be armed when you go to rob someone.”

The incident occurred in South Carolina. Most of the Southern states have similar laws and attitudes, though.

It's also not worthwhile suing a pizza delivery man unless he is an eccentric billionaire who delivers pizzas because it's so much fun.

A certain Texas pizza driver recounted this tale to his manager.
The manager replied "I can't believe that the driver was carrying a
.45 and his manager never noticed it."

Ha - ha - ha thought the driver with his own Taurus semi-auto
in his Uncle Mike's pocket holster carried in a deep right front
pocket. It could have been a PT-145 and still been concealed
without a fanny pack. The Texas driver was carrying but
breaking company policy. The manager was none the wiser.

The reason investigators do so is so that the full measure of truth comes out, regardless of where the chips fall.

In this case, merely reporting that the victim retreated before firing would leave that statement open to a variety of interpretations ranging from a step or two to infinity. Forensic measurement takes the guesswork and interpretation out of it and clearly indicates that the victim made a very strong effort to disengage before using deadly force to defend himself. This is an important point that a prosecutor will examine closely before making a decision whether or not to prosecute a case involving defensive use of deadly force.

But he was acting as an agent for Pizza Hut at the time of the shooting. Even though they have a no gun policy, they could still be held liable since he was acting as an agent of Pizza Hut at the time of the shooting.

Get the right 12 people in the room, and you never know what is going to happen.

Makes me wish my company would re-think their no-guns policy.

The South Carolina judicial system has "no billed" the pizza driver, stating that
this was a justified self defense shooting.

The driver has resigned from Pizza Hut, has thanked people for their prayers,
and asks for prayers for the family of the robber he had to kill.
