Strangely enough, in THAT situation, I'll choose dead.
1) My life insurance will pay out double to my wife.
2) she will sue and probably get a nice settlement or judgement.
It's already been discussed.
So she'll be taken care of, a lot better than if I get fired.

I would much rather have my husband fired and still with me then have all the money in the world!

The dead or fired argument is a red herring.
We are dealing with quality of life issues. Some people really like like their jobs, and the money we make allows us and our loved ones worldly comfort. Its about risk. What are the chances of geting fired? vs needing our guns to get out of serious trouble?
If I worked 9-5 in a campus type environment made good money and loved my job. I would not carry on the job, if it was against policy. If I were a pizza delivery guy I would carry.
YMMV

Than it really isn't a red herring issue, is it?

Well this is one of those times I am glad I work for the only private industry in the country that has it's own fully commissioned police force. IF he came into our office building he would be met with like gunfire. Of course if our special agents are out, then we are hosed because under our rules no one other than our police force are permitted to have deadly weapons.
