I bet I can safely assume he is NOT ok with it...

As I am not ok with it...

I believe it is ok to be amazed by the kids tanacity, and that we are ALL grateful nothing bad happened...

There was obviously a breakdown of communication which by this point has been rectified and delivered by the parental units...As it should be...

Yes, we are all amazed, but not all of us are "concerned" with the stupidity of it.

I'm guessing this is another "assumption", or you have information I don't have.

Apparently....I am oversensitive to kids making "bad decisions" (no matter how passionate) and having grown-ups support it.

Frankly, yes. The kid drove better than a lot of people who are allowed to drive if he managed to make it from Virginia to Weatherford pulling a trailer without attracting the attention of law enforcement even once. Give him a license, or start taking them away from those who prove that they shouldn't have them. If judgement enters the equation, then why aren't other people with much worse judgment kept off the roads?

Well....a whole of bunch of others DIDN'T, and they were older than 13.

Young drivers between 15 and 20 years old, account for less than seven percent of

But....I suppose as long as some kid has a "passion" for something....the facts can be overlooked?

Facts:

13 yr. old basically "stole" the family vehicle (unauthorized use of motor vehicle).

Violated the law by driving without a license (presumably he doesn't have a hardship license).

Basically "ran away from home"...as he did not inform his parents, and was obviously prepared to stay somewhere for an extended period of time.

Caused anxiety and concern for his safety to his parents and an unnecessary cost of time and money to law enforcement.

Did NOT have an auto accident (as you point out) but DID by his willful and unlawful actions create a more dangerous circumstance for other motorists by his mere presence.

Created a situation...that IF an accident had occured...his parents would most likely be held financially responsible (depending upon state law).



But....what the heck, its just so COOL that this 13yr. old could pull off such an amazing feat.

Flint's right. While the kid's act may be legendary, it is nonetheless inexcusable.

As for the driving, judgement, etc. of older drivers, 2,12, 3,000 or more wrongs don't make a right.

Boy, this thread went all down the crapper....

the parents should take aways this child's Rodeo britches for a little while. if that's why he broke all these laws, maybe taking away his coveted "rodeo" for a bit will teach him to have a little control over his compulsions.
after that punishment time is over, I'd say support him with even more earnest and watch him blossom.

you know what I really think the cause for his exodus? He was ticked off at those OC.org folks, too, and decided to get out of their back yard!

My sister believes the kid has a girlfriend he wanted to impress, and that the parents didn't have the time to get him to this event...Thats what is going on inside the Jr. Rodeo Circuit...

Thats why it looks like the parents didn't panic too too much about this, and kinda knew where he was going after they saw the video clip and where that was taken...

Should we be concerned??? Yep...

Should he be punished??? He is...

Is that girlfriend of his impressed??? Do I need to answer this one???

Will he do this again??? Probably not...

I in no way condone what the kid did, but i am impressed by what he accomplished.

Do I think he should be punished; Yes (by his parents). I do not think the law should be thrown at him.

The kid obviously lives on a farm and I would bet drives that truck around the farm all the time; which is/or should be perfectly legal.
