What matters to me is a teacher coming up to me in a restaurant to tell me how she loves my child and wishes all of them were like mine. What matters to me is when a parent at a Boy Scout campout comes up and asks, "Why is your child so well behaved and where does he get those manners?" I think the silent majority should stand their ground and say sure my kid knows how to shoot a gun. He knows how to do it safely. He has the understanding of the responsibility required to do so. He has character and it is not because I didn't "disenfranchise" him but because I raised him with love AND discipline. Let's all stand up for OUR rights for a change.
Keep up the good work with the kids. ***{SIGH}***...if only everyone who reproduces were so like minded.

How things should be is not always how things are.

I think it's great that you're teaching your boys to shoot. I also think it's important to realize that some people in positions of authority don't support civil rights. Forewarned is forearmed.

Your boys sound like the kind of children to gladden the heart of any parent.

My two Granddaughters are both excellent shots and the kind of children who frequently garner unsolicited, high praise for their manners also. From the time they were tiny, I was never fearful of bad behavior from them, most especially in public. This expectation didn't simply happen on its own. Children are a reflection of their parents. Certainly there are exceptions, but when parents take the time necessary to love, discipline and just spend time with them - they generally develop children with life-long, high quality character.

One of the few things we rarely hear about are parents who "like" their children. I know that statement sounds a bit odd, but many seem simply to, at best, passively tolerate their kids. Or, flatly state words to the effect that their children drive them crazy or state such negative opinions about them, you wonder why on earth they didn't let them be adopted. Is it any wonder we witness awful behavior in so many?

I don't blame poorly behaved children for their conduct - I look to the parents.

I'm glad to see your kind of parenting.

It's inspiring!

Something I wonder about when I see folks post on the interweb a picture of a 20,000 dollar firearms collection, along with personal information that could help a BG know where to go to relieve one of said collection. I guess i am just paranoid but it sure seems a little risky to me.

Anyway....nice collection. A little somethin-somethin for every occasion.

It isn't my collection...it is my buddy's. Good luck to whoever goes in his place after them! :nono: :fire

P.S. Thanks for the kind words everyone. My boys are great.
