Whenever I read a story like this I wonder if they were horsing around and made up the cleaning story as an excuse.

Pretty sad. I agree with everything all of you have said, but I have just one other question...where did they find .380 ammo?

What I want to know, is how all these people are managing to clean these guns with the breach/bolt/slide/etc closed?

I'm pretty sure just about every single manufacturer out there says, in the manual, to clean from the chamber, outwards. Not from the Crown, inwards.
I'm pretty sure my kimber had this in red type in my manual.

They could also invest in a coffee table or large cinder block to clean the weapon on...makes me wonder if there are any pairs of trousers in his house with a hole in the pocket.
