I find the idea that we can't be trusted to go into a bar or anyplace while armed a little insulting.

What is safest?
A loaded gun in a holster on our person.
A gun locked in a car at a icehouse parking lot?
An unloaded unlocked up gun anywhere.

I believe the gun on my person is the least likely to be taken possession of by a BG. The most dangerous is an unlocked unloaded gun.

I very much disagree on this. I believe I am quite capable of going to a "bar" and not drinking, just as I am capable of going to a "restaurant" with a TABC license and not drinking. The percentage of revenue from alcohol sales is completely irrelevant when it comes to my physical safety. And like Liberty wrote, if someone can't be trusted to go into a bar and not get drunk, they probably wouldn't have their CHL anyway? I am quite often the designated driver for social outings to bars and resent the fact that I'm trusted enough to drive, but can't have a gun for the (usually nighttime) trip between the bar and my vehicle.

I DD semi-regularly as well and think it's dumb that I have to not carry until I'm back at the car. If I'm at the point where a drunk guy could take my gun from me, then that's exactly after the point where I would have needed it.
