The suggestions are appreciated, and I'll let you know what I end up going with. Might even take some pics.

What about a revolver?

I'll 2nd carrying a Glock. That's what I see the lake patrol folks wearing on their PWCs.

My Stainless/plastic Ruger P95 has taken a dip a couple times. The mags and even the springs seem rust resistant also.. It goes without saying that the gun needs a thorough cleaning at the end of the day.

Funny, I just got back from the LifeTime pool with my 7 yr old. Here's what I do, seems silly but it works.

Glock 27 with Clipdraw and Siderlock manual trigger safety.

Sandwich size zip lock bag.

punch small hole in the bag and slide the clipdraw through it. Squeeze air out of the bag while zipping it. Double piece of ductape over the small hole at the top of the bag where the clip comes through. Rust covered Longhorn t-shirt to cover the butt end of the gun showing over my swim trunks.

Never fails, not a drop in the bag. I'm only walking not swimming in 3-4 ft of water with the kiddo and no problems. Just have to remember to pull the t-shirt away from my body as I walk out so that the butt doesn't print. Also keeps me from having sunburn on my back.

Used to just keep it in the pool bag till one day last yr someone accidently kicked over the bag and guess what was somewhat visible if someone had bent over to put the bag back upright???

There's enough room in the bag to disengage the safety and pull the trigger without punching a finger hole in the bag. It is point shooting though, the bag makes aligning sights difficult.

Just carry a Glock in a waterproof holster. Problem solved. :

Well just my luck, I went to the river today and found a waterproof baggy floating up to me with cigs and a lighter in it. Everything was totally dry. Now to just slip my carry weapon in there... I'll let you know how it goes.

just be careful ...im pretty sure a baggy with a gun in it wont float..
.......but you could tie it to a string and the other end to your wrist just like my mommy tied my balloon to my wrist so it could'nt get away.

I love this site. This guy had a real question. when i read the headline i thought for sure some people where going to be jerks and make fun. Like every other site.

Supposedly the XD has been through all the same tests as the glock has been through, and fares just as well.

Glock would be bestfor this application, even with no waterproof protection, but so many pools now a days are salt water. Even for a Glock, that makes me a bit nervous. Anyone think that's unreasonable?

Chad, the concentration of a salt water pool is so low that I doubt it would do any harm, even so, a quick rinse under fresh water would do the trick. The concentration of salt in sea water is abour 35,000ppm, in a salt water pool it is only 2,500 to 4,000 ppm. as you can see it is quite a bit lower than sea water.

I've carried before while tubing on the San Marcos. I wore a belly band holster and changed the grips out on my S & W Airweight to plastic, and just let it get wet. I even went as far as soaking some hydroshocks in a cup of water for 24 hrs. to see if they would fail to fire. They passed the test. Anyhow, I blew the gun out with gunscrubber when I got home, and oiled it good. Have yet to see any rust.

Pelican Cases work very well.

I slide on a brass snap lock to the lanyard it comes with and then snap it to a pad eye on my kayak whenever I go paddling.

Pelican boxes not only keep stuff dry, but provide protection from bumps and dings. Fairly quick access too.
