Quick update: She shot 3 times and hit one burglar twice and the other once. That's some pretty decent shooting under stressful conditions (much better than some Police Departments post).

This was a great example to send on to my girlfriend and sister................I told them they need to come to the range more often with me because I won't always be there to protect them........and just because there are guns in the house shouldn't make you feel safer, you need to be proficient and confident with them in case the need arises. It appears the lady in the article had a plan and was definently able to use the gun confidently. My hats of to her!

Someone else made the comment about how she bunkered down and let the criminals come to her, she did have the tactical advantage............great point and we can all learn from that!

Update: I talked to the news director today, that put this story together. After introductions, I told him that a Texas Department of Public Safety certified CHL instructor has offered to conduct a CHL class plus handgun safety course for the ladies that expressed an interest as per the news story.

The man listened with great interest(I got the impression he smelled a follow up story), and said he would contact the lady who was interviewed and would either call me or email me as how to proceed with this. it was a very friendly and cordial tele conversation.

At this stage, it's to early to tell how far this will go. The ball is in the guys court to get back with me.

I will keep everyone posted here as to the unfolding events as they happen.

CV why not have the editor write a piece about how you after reading the article decided to have a concealed carry class for women only??

I have a feeling that it would get a lot of womens attention, garner a lot of interest for your class and possibly also the woman who was interviewed would see it too.

Well actually I was going to set up a pistol class for them and a CHL class if they were interested.

As to the part about a class for women only they are several being offered around the State and by some of our own members and moderators.

Not so good that both perps were still in good enough shape to escape and were able to themselves call for assistance . . . the intended victim has the right mindset and the intestinal fortitude to carry out a very good defense plan, but she either needs to work on shot placement or get a bigger gun. (Maybe both.)

Let's remember that we shoot to end the threat, not to kill. This isn't just verbal camouflage for killing. It's the real objective of moral self defense, even though we recognize that there is a very high likelihood that death will be the outcome whenever deadly force is used to stop a deadly threat. That's why it's called "deadly force," not "fatal force."

In the case under discussion here, let's consider what the homeowner accomplished:

- 3 clearly lawfully justified shots under extreme life threatening circumstances
- 3 hits on dangerous, moving, attacking targets
- immediate cessation of the threat followed by the retreat of the attackers
- almost immediate arrest of the felons during a police response requested by the bad guys themselves

This is a 100% score in my book.

The most important thing here is that the lady survived, was not injured and justice will be served to the BG's, plus they may have learned a valuable lesson (break into someones house, you get shot.).
