thats probably from your career as a professional safe cracker .
years of sanding your finger tips to make them sensitive enough to feel the tumblers drop
will smooth them right over .

Ohhhh, so THAT'S what it is! I thought it was the sulfuric acid I was using~!

joe817 wrote:As long as we're on the topic of fingerprint cards & fingerprints(my next to favorite topic to fret about, lol), I took my class last Saturday. I had applied online and in it was 2 DPS f.p. cards.
When it was time to get fingerprinted at class, the fingerprint guy looked at both of them, called the instructor over to him, and asked if he had an FBI f.p.card as he was experiencing rejections because one wasn't an FBI card.
Now before you start getting antsy, I can't believe that what is supplied by DPS would be rejected because of the f.p.cards...I'm just passing along what I heard.
Now you've done it!

Though it would be a "creative" solution to an increasing backlog...

It wasn't me! It wasn't me! I didn't do it!
(and if I did, I promise not to do it again)

Well I guess I'll throw myself in the "waiting room".....I paid/applied online June26th. Received the package July 11th. Went to CHL training July 18th/19th in San Antonio taught by Steve Brennan. Mailed it all in via USPS Registered Mail July 20th. They got it July 22nd.
After reading quite a bit on this forum I guess I should be thankful I am not in Harris County but lil ol bitty Kendall County....
So just wanted to join and learn and thanks to all for sharing your experience and knowledge as it is very helpful understanding the process and the laws etc.
Got busted 48 years ago stealing strawberries out a fella's strawberry field and did 2 months picking strawberries as punishment. Also got the tar whipped out of me by the old man too boot. I was 6. So I hope the DPS doesn't hold that against me. I didn't disclose it.

Yeah the old man would wear your butt out for sure.....but we all turned out pretty good.....I have all daughters...never laid a hand on any of them...but was "strict" ....funny thing though...I still hate strawberries to this day :)
So am I correct in my assumption/observation folks from Houston are waiting a really long(er) time more so than the rest of the state?

Yes sarge, that's pretty much the consensus here. Because of the backlog for the Harris county background checks, which is done at the county level(at least that's my understanding).
But hang in there. Your patience will be rewarded.

I am an old ( I stress old here) race car/high performance engine builder. Cannot stop "tinkering" with things. A few years back a guy ask me if I could mill some on a old Russian SKS rifle he had. So I did and he loved it. That led to others bringing me their pistols/rifles for various "work"......I started really enjoying working on their guns and eventually collected quite a few "gunsmith" tools......The reason I share that is to impress upon you I am not really a gun guy per se or a defensive natured person.....always used my fist in situations....But.....some of the fella's started taking me to the gun range and I got pretty good....then I went to some tactical training and really fell in love with the entire proper weapons+training+tactics=instant peace.
But my guns consist of a Glock 36 modified with mag/grip extensions and modified springs and trigger group....Taurus 856...
I plan on carrying the Glock with the Taurus .38 as a backup.....I have two modified Saiga's...one 7.62X39 and one .223 with M855 ammo.....A Russian SKS....various rifles of semi auto 30-06 flavor....shotguns....then I have some single shot rifles in .223/30-06. All fired monthly and then cleaned. My home defense weapon is the 7.62X39MM.....this is it on the left....

And for grins while we all are waiting...you may find of some interest my "toy"...a 2004 GTO highly modified....620 rear wheel horsepower....runs 10 second quarter miles....no power adders or nitrous...all motor......

Got my PIN yesterday via email. Checked this morning and it says "application incomplete-detailed letter sent".....now we went through that checklist in PAINFUL DETAIL...so I can only imagine :)
Thank goodness for the Utah non-res program.
