And to think their home office is in Texas.

To the OP, only a DA can prosecute. :smash:

I must be losing my eyesight as I cannot remember seeing a sign in the 7-11 that I stopped at last week.

Even Texas has liberal bleeding hearts...just not as many as Kalifornia. :coolgleamA:

As far as noticing the sign, it's not your eyesight, you didn't notice the empty Coke can on the pole either  .

He feels that the implication is that they don't want anyone to carry in there. He feels that if something were to "go down" in there that he would be prosecuted by 7-11.

I told him that if they were serious about it, then they wouldn't have spent the time and money to print up those stupid signs and would have spent the same or less time and money making a 3006 sign. I also told him that he needs to be less worried about minutiea and focus on the simplicity of the rules.

ANy ideas?
We were advised in our CHL instructors class that even if the business does not have legitimate 30.06 sign, that common sense should prevail when you see a sign that shows that the business obviously does not want guns on their premises. Rather than advising the students to carry there anyway (bad PR in my opinion should something happen) why not suggest that they carry those cards to hand out to businesses where it basically says "No legal concealed carry allowed = Im taking my business elsewhere"

I saw this sign in the district office of the Gunnison National Forest this week and I knew what it meant. I had already disarmed prior to entering a fedearal office, etc.

Another question for you guys: I'm currently looking for a full time job, and walked into a local office which had a gun busters sign posted with the wording "No concealed weapons allowed on company premises".

I know that it is not a legal sign, but if I was theoretically hired there, would that be good enough for employer giving notice I wasn't allowed to carry there as an employee?

This one's been answered in other forums, but here's the bottom line as I read it:

A company can make it a company *policy* that you can't carry at their premises. Not a law, but something they can fire you for if you don't follow it.

Premises are buildings. They can't stop you from having your sidearm in your car in the parking lot... *if* that parking lot is unfenced and unguarded. If it's fenced and has a gate with guards watching over the lot, then they can fire you for having your sidearm in your car.

I'll leave out all the details of how they would find that out... could they search your car... for those you'll need to search around and find the forums in which there was much discussion about those details.

This is a bill that never made it. It isn't law, and it won't be at least for another couple of years.

Just want to clarify. Very few 7-11 stores are actually owned by 7-11. Most (95%) are owned by franchisees, which are independent business owners who pay for the right to market their stores at a 7-11 store. As such, each franchisee can set the rules and policies (which includes signs) that apply to their stores. What you are seeing is the franchisee's decision to put that sign up. It's not a corporate policy.

I'm sorry, but I disagree.

If they REALLY ACTUALLY gave a crap, and did not want CHL Holders in their store, they would spend the 5 minutes required to research the proper sign.

I find it hard to believe that the 7-11 lawyers do not know about the sign requirement, and all other gun laws, considering how many gun-related crimes they have in their stores daily.

They want to make it seem to the sheeple that they are 'doing something' to prevent gun-related crime, and that's it. They don't actually care. Plain and simple.

Seriously? Bad PR in case something should happen? Like, god forbid, a CHL holder actually stops an armed criminal?

I will carry past a gunbusters sign without so much as a thought.

They can fire you for any reason not prohibited by law. For example because they don't like your haircut.

Another problem with handing out the card is that you may very well be causing them to think about something they had not thought of before and post a full on 30.06 sign. I wish guys with CHL's would quit trying to champion the cause in locations where it does not need to be championed. Doing things like this is just asking for another forbidden location.

For cripes sake...what is so hard with just following the dad gummed rules and keeping a mouth shut when the rules are working in a CHLers favor????

I totally understand and see your point, but I was merely giving my opinion on whether the location would want you carrying there or not. To me its common sense that they do not.
I find it hard to believe that the 7-11 lawyers do not know about the sign requirement, and all other gun laws, considering how many gun-related crimes they have in their stores daily.
Im sure they know. Whether or not they can get the franchise stores to comply with their directives is probably another matter alltogether.

It could most certainly be bad PR depending on the circumstances. Say you go into a store and you are imprinting but werent really aware of it and the clerk knocks you off but in doing so he calls the cops thinking he might be getting robbed. I know its a stretch, but stranger things have happened. What if it becomes an issue and the media gets ahold of it? Do you think they will fairly represent the events or just run with what they think was going on?
