Ya don't find a lot of Pulitzer Prize candidates at the smaller-city TV stations.

Here's a summary of incidents and news reports in this case:

It seems the two men who tried to break into the senator's house were his clients or former clients.
This is going to be the basis of a movie script some day.

The 17-year-old whose house burned (at the top of this thread) was charged with "fraudulent burning of a building and ... attempting to obtain property by false pretenses," for setting fire to his own house. Both offenses are felonies.

OK. This thing is turning into a soap opera.
The teen who was accused of arson was arrested and bonded out. Police had become aware that he did not have a driver license. Officers saw him driving his Corvette and lit him up. He fled and wrecked the Corvette. He is now back in jail.

The kid reportedly bonded out again ($500,000 bail). His conditions of bail included being on house arrest with electronic monitoring. He left the house, and his bail was revoked.

It seems that way.
I try to keep in mind that the newspapers and TV stations in that area are all over this case like flies on roadkill, and they are casting everything in the worst possible light.
