I would join in on the 'don't cover it' camp. So you have a safe in the apartment, as long as the weight isn't an issue on a second level floor, so what?

If they ask what is in it ask them what is usually in safes?

"rlol" OH, you would be surprised at the things I have seen in apartments when answering an alarm.

If your lease doesn't put any restrictions on firearms, it doesn't matter whether or not they're "firearms friendly" . . . especially since, as you wrote, you're leaving in October.

I would NOT leave a lot of ammo or reloading components (powder, primers) around, as they may be considered "flammable materials" . . . leases I've signed had such clauses, but they were meant to keep people from storing gasoline, kerosene, fireworks, charcoal starter, etc., though I imagine "too much" ammo or gunpowder might arouse unwanted interest.

Well, I guess the inspection happened on Friday...I don't really know.

My wife and I left out of town on Thursday night, (after securing all of the firearms and ammo in the safe, we didn't cover the safe) and making sure that all of our furniture and electrical outlets were up to specs. I also took the advice of one of the posters on this forum and installed a fire-extinguisher in a prominent location between our kitchen, dining room, and living room. We arrived home on Sunday and everything seemed to be as we left it, and there was no notice of any infractions or even that they had entered our apartment. So I guess, alls well that ends well!

Thanks for all of the help guys!
