I took the class on 26 July; mailed in the application on 01 August. Sitting out in Iraq right now, so not a critical hurry. You don't need a CHL to carry over here, and my weapons options are much more varied.

Subtract one from August. Mine arrived yesterday. Received by DPS on August 5. My wife, however, is still showing the dreaded "Processing Application". That's 42 days total for me. Wife is on Day 43 today.
