Complete and utter bull.
Gemini, sorry you had to go through that. We considered getting out there too and it crossed my mind. Your experience describes my concern of how such an interaction would transpire. By the end of it everyone and their dog knows you have a CHL & gun, they might as well plaster your face on a big screen and have Big Tex make an announcement
What happened to a CHLers right to privacy? I mean, isn't that why they make us hide it? So as not to alarm everyone around us
Anyhow, I look forward to hearing how the rest of this plays out. Keep us informed.

Perhaps about 10-15 CHL'ers should all visit the Fair en masse and make a BIG stink at the gates.

An old fashioned sit-in.

Does anyone know the legality of this? Wouldn't State law supersede a company policy?

Great! I'm going next week! I went last year and had no such problems. Your story, however, is quite worrisome.

I was looking forward to going to the state fair for the first time with my girlfriend, but now I don't think I want to spend my hard earned cash over there if this is how they are going to treat us.

I think that this might be a GREAT idea...seriously!
I too was considering going to the fair, it's been a LOOOOONG time since I've been. Was thinking about riding the train down there (or at least checking into it, TRE and transfer to DART?) and darn sure would be packing! All of this "taking down info" nonsense is making me rethink a trip there, doesn't sounds like it's worth the hassle.

It's a shame after so many years of not hassling CHL'ers they've now taken this absurd stance.

Gemini, supreme Kudos to you for adhering to your principles on what is right and just. You are now on a mission to correct a gross miscarriage in the application of "policy".
I wish you success in your endeavor. Please do keep us posted on the unfolding events, and let us know how we can help.

Ah, but they cannot post 30.06.
The fairgrounds is gov't owned, even if it is leased out to a private company for 24 days a year. Government owned property is an exception to 30.06.
And this is the very situation that I am a proponent of making a ruckus. I agree though that in situations with improperly posted signs one should just shut up and do as the law requires...which is nothing.
I fear some of our fellow CHL'ers confuse the two VERY different situations.

It is most likely a new person in charge of the area that makes decisions on this issue.

good luck sir. I hope it works out for the best.
my blood sugar is low, and I'm in too foul of a mood to comment further on the actual incident. I'm positive I would not have been "professional" by the end of that ordeal. I'm glad you were.
least you got some good Mexican Food outta the deal, even if you had to pay!

mmmm, chips and salsa....

Accordign to this link
http://www.dallascityhall.com/FairPark/ ... ation.html
"Fair Park … is a division of the Dallas Park and Recreation Department. ". Meaning its owned by the city - so they cant deny you entrance.
Also in that link is the executive directors name. Now, maybe we could appeal to Jim Longley to pen an appropriate form letter to fax the gentleman.
