No, as I already wrote:

If the handgun is in the trunk, then 46.02 does not apply.

If you are "engaging in lawful hunting, fishing, or other sporting activity on the immediate premises where the activity is conducted, or is en route between the premises and the actor's residence, if the weapon is a type commonly used in the activity;", you can carry your handgun in a holster on your person, as you are protected by 46.15(b)[4]. Though I do not recommend you do this, as the burden of proof will surely be placed on you.

Or you can carry it under the new provisions of traveling.

Bottom line is, the laws that allow you purchase a 6 inch steak knife from Albertsons and take home also allow you to buy a gun and take it home.
