Are all Texas gun shows posted 30.06?

Every one I go to is posted in the Houston area. Funny thing is they are all on city property. I have no qualms at all lying to the LEO/Security guard at the door since their sign is bogus so is my answer. It is completely asinine to bar my ammo when mags and ammo are available 20 ft away! On the street the last thing I would do is lie to LEO as that never ends well but the gun show thing is so hypocritical it alters my view on the matter. Concealed is concealed. I do go to almost every show on Saturday morning to look for deals from private sellers. I have gotten great deals that way and sold a few as well.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know if the Dallas Market Hall gun show is posted? There's one coming up this weekend and I was thinking about going. Honestly it doesn't really as I'll be trying to sell my main carry gun, but I was curious anyway.

That's an interesting question.

Is it unlawful to lie to an off-duty, but uniformed LEO?

The problem with doing so at the two gun shows I've been to are that there were also metal detectors I had to pass through. I would've been busted and then either arrested or asked to leave. At the time I didn't know that both of these shows were on city owned property. I'd have probably gotten the shaft as I would have if I would've tried to argue the legitimacy of the whole State Fair issue with the security there this year.

It's only illegal to lie to a LEO in conjunction with an investigation. You can tell him all about how many fish you caught, that 48 point buck you shot, and the size of your manhood, and it's all legal.

When they ask if you're carrying any guns when entering a gun show, they're not investigating anything.

Good point. However, when I set off the metal detector and refuse to let them search me and he asks for ID do I have to give him my CHL? Is he now an officer or still just a security guard?

Metal detectors at a gun show.....wow. That I would not attend. A lot of attendees are carrying 4-5 figures in cash (for private sales) and carrying expensive unloaded guns they just openly bought out to an unprotected parking lot. Nope, I aint going if I cant carry.

I was at the Passadena Real Gun show a few weeks ago and I don't recall a 30.06 sign. I did get my guns zip tied (after leaving the mag and ammo in the vehicle). I then tucked the guns back from whence they came and the LEO's just sat a watched me.

No metal detectors in sight.

USA1 went to the same show on the same day so maybe he can confirm my statement about the 30.06 just in case I walked right past it in my hurry to get inside.

I remember some kind of sign , but can't recall if it was a 30.06 sign.

I can't imagine a gun show with any kind of effective metal detector system. It's hard enough to get people through TSA checkpoints where they mostly know not to bring or wear metal. By the time you get rid of wallets, coins, knives, belt buckles, cowboy boots (metal shanks), not to mention guns, it would take several times as long to clear someone.

Not to mention, LEOs manning metal detectors constitute a search. That's a non-starter.

Was it a Metal detector? or one of these?

These are anti-theft devices, not metal detectors.

Pretty much, if there's not a guard standing at them, and probably an x-ray machine next to it, it's not going to be a metal detector.
Metal detectors are also connected across the top, and thats where the alarm is, like this:

I must have totally missed that one somehow. :headscratch

Maybe it was a 30.06? That would surely explain the lack of firearms on sale in the show! "rlol" :rolll :smilelol5:

They were metal detectors. It was several years ago at Market Hall in Dallas. The only show I've been to since was in Fort Worth, but I got there late and they were closing up. I did not carry there because of my previous encounter in Dallas a year or two before. I didn't even go through the regular entrance, but rather the back where the vendors were carrying their stuff out to their trucks and trailers. Whatever I went to look for I did not find, but I don't know if there were metal detectors there or not.

So, if there were no metal detectors and this was city owned property with an unlawfully posted 30.06 is this a case of concealed means concealed?

Market Hall will undoubtedly be posted Saturday. It always is.

I love how we are considered to be so trustworthy to carry most other places, except at a "gunshow"...

Sometimes my sarcasm, not my hypocracy, gets the best of me... :thumbs2:
