Re: Strange Sign
Now that's down right funny.
Will you tell us what business?
If I saw that, I would be really tempted to pull the manager aside and make a fool of him; in a nice way of course.

Re: Strange Sign
And then what, have him post a proper sign that applies to you, me and all of the rest of the CHL's? Again I say, it's sometimes best to "let sleeping dogs lie".PappaGun wrote:Now that's down right funny.

Re: Strange Sign
Would you then be surprised if the manager thanked you and put up a fully compliant 30.06 sign?PappaGun wrote:Now that's down right funny.

No good could come from pulling the manager aside. Doing so might well get a resourceful RKBA advocate in hot water.
Oldgringo beat me to the keyboard by a couple of seconds here, but he definitely has the right idea - it's best to leave well enough alone.
With the current situation, everyone has what he wants and is happy.
Messing with it can't make that any better, but it sure could make it worse.

Geeez...
Sarcasm was intended.
I apologize for not being more clear.

Re: Strange Sign
If I had a business, I'd put up a sign like that. In essence it says "CHL HOLDERS ARE WELCOME" right along with "unlicensed people ignorant of the law who are carrying guns need not enter, unless you are a criminal, (in which case they'd ignore signs anyway) illiterate or don't read English, (in which case they'd ignore signs anyway) but hopefully a few CHLs WILL be in here to cover my back"

I always thought these signs were weird

Like what, is the church going to dart in front of you into the street?

Re: Strange Sign
This one's not all that strange, but it did jump out at me this morning as I was entering an office building. I'm paying more attention to postings now, and this one made me do a double take.
If I had a gun for every ace I have drawn, I could arm a town the size of Abilene.

That was the old Vernon's Civil Statutes article and was codified by SB 898 in 1997 to the current statutes. Re: Strange Sign
Thanks for the direct links. I did dig around the archives a little bit to confirm that it didn't deserve a thread of its own.

Re: Strange Sign
Actually, wasn't there a thread recently where someone here did that - sold non-compliant signs to businesses?PUCKER wrote:I'm the publishing business (trade journals), maybe I should get a side business going...what do y'all think? I could sell non-compliant 30.06 signs...(you know: wrong wording, wrong size, etc)...it would make the idiots feel all warm and fuzzy but it wouldn't have any legal teeth and any TX CHL'er worth their salt would know the true intentions of the sign but know that they'd be legal...just saying....
