Haha. I just checked my status, and it said Application Completed - license issued or certificate active. Makes me wonder if it would still have said that if I didn't make some phone calls.

"The squeaky wheel gets the grease." I hear they are undermanned and overloaded. My delay was foolishness back when it was supposedly a much easier process. Glad to know you will be taking the Wally-World Tour soon :) Be sure to wear pants if you are using an ankle holster...

Hello,

This is my first post. I am little frustrated with the approval process for the CHL and was hoping to get some help. I took my CHL class on 8/22/09 and mailed my packet certified mail on 8/24/09. I received a letter from the TX DPS dated 9/25/09 stating they received my application and provided my PIN to check the progress of my application online. I have not received anything from them since and my application is still processing. I recently contacted the DPS asking the status and was told my background check is not complete. There is nothing in my background that would prevent me from getting a license (only "event" noted on my application was a minor in possesion of alcohol in 1992 were I was ticketed, not arrested, and paid the ticket). We are approaching 120 days from the time I sent my application and I am wondering if my application has hit a snag.

Anyone have any advice?

Thank you in advance.

Indeed. Welcome there Redwing. I'm fairly new myself. If USA1 does the same for you as he did for me, you'll be in good hands.

Hazaa! My sweet, sweet plastic arrived today. :woohoo
I would do the Wally Walk today, but I checked the mail after coming back from there. I'm thinking tomorrow about doing a go where ever walk.

Agreed joe817. :thumbs2: :thumbs2:
Well lets run a little test...I've had the same 6 month wait you had.
Rather than call WonderWoman, I wrote an email to my local rep last Tuesday. I provided the same explanation I wrote above in the thread (though more polite, having removed all traces of sarcasm), and asked for his help. I got an email back from one of his aids almost immediately asking for my DL# and address. Since replying to her, I have heard nothing. On Monday I called DPS; they told me my application was in queue to be reviewed by a technician...
So yesterday I sent a polite reminder to my rep's aid asking if she'd heard anything back from DPS...nothing.

So I just emailed WonderWoman. Lets see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

I sent my paperwork in on 10-13-09, should I be as frustrated about not getting my plastic as I am already? Or is this just a patience test?
I got the background check not complete answer from DPS, but there is nothing in my background. I have lived in the same county for 18 years!!!

I mailed mine in August. I too was born out of country.

We'll have open carry before I get my CHL at this rate.

It could be a patience test. From what I've seen, I cannot fathom how the DPS actually processes the applications. I'm sure there are people who sent in their applications around the same time as you and got their licenses a month ago.

Well, if it goes along the same route as my application, which I hope not, you'll end up getting it in Feb. The only good news for me was that it took less than a week from a completed application status to plaastic in my hand. Good luck.

Well I heard back...my application was "In Processing" for 3.5 months and it turns out the FBI rejected my prints. So the 60 day clock starts over when I resubmit my prints.

Any advice? This truly is getting ridiculous.
