May the Lord guide the surgeon's hand, and may He be with you and your wife and family in your successful surgery and speedy recovery. Amen.

Larry,
I went through that same procedure a little less than 2 years ago. I'm sure that your doctor has told you what to expect relative to the surgery and recovery period. I'll just tell you, from a patients perspective, that the recovery period is not painful. The best word that I can come up with to describe the immediate post surgery recovery period is inconvenient. If, either before or after after the surgery, you would like to get a former prostate patient's experiences feel free to PM me. I'm sure that you will come through this just fine.

You have my sympathies. I recently had to face the possibility of the same thing, but was fortunate to have a really low PSA (0.48, normal is 0-4), and my symptoms seem to have cleared up for now. We'll be praying for you.

Thanks, guys and gal.
Special thanks to those who have previously dealt with prostate cancer and for offers to talk about it. I'll probably take you up on those offers during the recuperation process, especially if/when I become frustrated that it's not going as quickly as I want it to.
If all goes well, I should be discharged from the hospital on Friday -- will try to post progress reports when the good pain meds wear off.
