You can get a trigger job by Bill Springfield (triggerworks.com) for under $75. You can also google ar 15 minute trigger job and do your own from instructions there. I have done this on 5 of mine and works rather well. An extra set of trigger and and hammer springs are real cheap. If you cut the hammer spring too short you may have misfires on some foreign and military ammo due to harder primers, buy an extra set of springs just in case. With BUIS and an Eotech you can cowitness these sights together at your choice of distance. Then go out and burn ammo.

2 of us were able to put 16 out of 20 on a 3/4 human sized target at 300 yards using an eotech on a 16" M4orgery. if there had been less wind 20 out of 20 would have been doable. with that in mind I would have to say a red dot is more than enough for midrange zombie encounters

Well, I did it. I got the Ruger SR-556 along with the EOTech XPS-2 sight.

After figuring out how much it would cost to buy all the Troy Industries gear separately and attach it to something I built (along with shipping and then buying "stuff I forgot"), I figured the Ruger was a pretty decent deal for me. Also, since it is my first AR, I have a shop and a company to complain to if it doesn't work right.

I also picked up a gapper, a rubber stock cover and 500 rounds of .556 ammo and GT was having a special so they threw in three extra clips (total of 6 since it came with 3 PMAGs).

I shot about 40 rounds sighting in the XPS and fooling around with it. I really like the holographic reticule. I've not really shot a rifle much, but resting on a bag and shooting at 25yds, the EOTech pretty much let me stack holes on top of each other. Shooting unsupported I was still within an couple of inches. I'm sure people with good eyes can do that with iron sights, but I was very happy with it. I'll go back sometime this week and sight in the BUIS.

It handled really nicely and cycled everything perfectly. I think I'm going to like it!

The 'gapper' is a bit of a waste for a new, well fitted rifle. Thank goodness it's cheap :)
