I have seen a drum mag that fits 1911s. Don't remember how many rounds but it was a lot. Last gun show I bought a 31 round mag that fits both the 40 and 357sig glocks. Bought it for my bil who has one of the 40cal keltech rifles that takes the glock mags.

Just to clear up what I was saying, incase anyone thought I was Anti-10 round
I was pointing out how silly the 10 round limit was because the worst shooting in America the killer used Ban Okay round magazines, the ban would have done no good in that situation, just more pointless "Feel Good" laws.

I dont think so. I think it only becomes a rife when it is capable of being fired from the shoulder.

I'm not a fan of really big extended magazines for which the firearm was not designed. Some of the factories have done it well, like Glock. Some haven't.
Getting the magazine body, springs, feed lips, follower, etc, to actually work together reliably is harder than it sounds. There's more to it than than just scaling up.
The additional weight and leverage can cause problems in magazine retention.
The added size is a handling problem, too. Sometimes, you can't get too low!

When I was shooting a .308 Remington 788 in NRA High Power Rifle, I made some five- or six-round magazines by splicing two factory three-rounders together. That put more mass lower under the rifle, held in place by a couple of small sheet metal hooks. Under recoil, the retainer would sometimes allow the magazine to drop just far enough to cause a failure to feed, or sometimes just drop the magazine on the ground.

There are many guns that can be made "high cap" by modifying magazines on the market for other pistols (mag catch relocation, usually). My Steyr M9A1 takes 32 round Browning Hi-Power magazines (I believe the S&W M&P and Sigmas will work with these as well) after a few minutes of file work:





As far as practicality, they are strictly for giggle purposes. They're awful expensive to feed, but if they withstand the test of time w/o turning into a feeding nightmare, I might leave one in my nightstand gun one day... We'll see.
