Re: I got written-up at work...
Never ceases to amaze me what people (employees) have to put up with from others in the workplace...There is no respect, only disdane and unreasonable behavior...
And they wonder why people snap...
Good thing most of us have a good sense of humor, and self-control...

Holy Cow, you are so right! I've got to agree with you guys about most women bosses. I hate working for women...and for the most part, I don't like working with women. That's why I choose to work in a male dominated field.TexasGal wrote:Hey, sorry you got treated so unfairly. I hate to say this, but some companies will find ways to build a negative file on good employees who have earned their way to a good wage so they can be canned to save some payroll. Watch your back.
Not being a rabid feminist, I also have to admit for some reason the more ambitious female manager is hard to take. If you think they are hard on the guys, you should see what they dish to any women they see as rivals.

Ya know they tell you as a valued and seasoned emplyee you should mentor and counsel newer ones, but the truth of the matter is if you do your backside gets in trouble for excess socialization. Flipside is if you don't you are not a team player.
Truth of the matter is in many cases after you have imparted your wealth of knowledge you are expendable and can be replaced at a third of the money plus you are a threat if there i incompetance above.

Ever hear of the Dilbert Principle? I think it sounds more fitting in this situation.Dragonfighter wrote:Two words, "Peter Principle"The Annoyed Man wrote:You're so right about that. The Dilbert Principle, on the other hand, claims that incompetent employees are intentionally promoted to prevent them from doing harm (such as reducing product quality, offending customers, offending employees, etc.) The Dilbert Principle draws upon the idea that in certain situations, the upper echelons of an organization can have little relevance to the actual production and the majority of real, productive work in a company is done by people lower in the power ladder. It is possible for both Principles to be simultaneously active in a single organization.

You trade in your freedom (in almost every aspect) for a paycheck when you work for a corporation.
Fairness, common sense, decency, have nothing to do with working in such an environment.
If you understand and accept this, you'll do fine.
Or, start making plans to get out from under the corporate thumb...

Sometimes that's hard to make happen, diplomatically.Oldgringo wrote:jimlongley wrote:Been there, done that, been "laid off."

A pocket voice recorder is an option.
Save the audio file, then make a transcript for that file you are keeping
I guess I'm fortunate. Family-owned business, nobody jacks with me, including the owner. (He's the only one that's worked here longer)
I'm a bit concerned about the grandkids though ;)

That could get you in trouble, you gotta ask for premission to record people in Texas (I think?)Rex B wrote:Sometimes that's hard to make happen, diplomatically.Oldgringo wrote:jimlongley wrote:Been there, done that, been "laid off."

I detect elements of gender and age discrimination on the part of management in your post. Keep us posted on future developments.

I don't think so. You can't record another conversation, but you can record your own whether the other person knows it or not.marksiwel wrote: That could get you in trouble, you gotta ask for premission to record people in Texas (I think?)

I would also worry about if your company has a policy on it
