Do I understand correctly from previous posts that double-taps/rapid fire are OK at Shiloh? What about holster draw (I can't imagine they'd allow that).
I do all of the above.
They have two areas to shoot.
One right up front with a window between the store and the range.
The other is down a hallway in the back where you're pretty much alone
to do the holster drawing as long as you don't act dumb about it
.

There is a window there also. It is between the office and range.
Now that I think about it,..there sure is.
I remember looking through the glass but never saw anyone on the other side.

Thanks for the correction. :tiphat:

Hey there guys and gals! From our staff at Shiloh, we want to thank you all for the kind words, your gift certificates are in the mail!!! Good, responsible shooters really make our days here enjoyable, and most everybody we have met from this forum meets that description! As far as drawing, please introduce yourself to us so we know what your doing, so we can put into a lane with a shorter table, and to keep potential problem shooters ( those who think "That looks cool, I can do that too, even though I've never tried it!" )away from your area. And please understand that noon on a busy Saturday is not the best time for drawing! Thank you for your patronage folks, oh yea, Shiloh Gun Talk Radio is now on AM 700 KSEV, Saturday's at 4pm, soon to be live from the range! :patriot:

Took my CHL Class there also, first rate instruction!

Was just there yesterday with a buddy. Put about 150 through my S&W and 30 or so through my Beretta. I definately need to go more often

Only complaint, and this is with any indoor place, is I can't shoot anything but brass. I understand why, really I do. But I have an old FEG that uses 9x18mm and lately all I can find for it is nickle casing. And right now, it's too cold for me to shoot outdoors.

Kudos to Shiloh. Great staff and great facility.

NIckel casing's are fine to shoot indoors, just not steel or aluminum. Steel can spark when ejected onto concrete, and sparks + unburnt powder = indoor range's worst nightmare, while aluminum is so dirty it's hard to see downrange when people are shooting it. I have some 9x18 brass on hand, $14 per box. Ammunitiontogo.com has had plenty in stock lately. :patriot:

I took up shooting in January this year. Had a 2 hr lesson from Tracy Campbell in which he provided several guns for me to try out from 38 Special to 45 ACP - found it really excellent. Took Tracy's CHL course a few days later -- also excellent. Have been back to Shiloh a few times since for practice using my own guns of which I now have three (Beretta 92FS, Walther P99C AS, and S&W M&P340CT.

I understand that any ammo with magnum on it is not allowed at Shiloh. I would like to shoot some Gold Dot 357 Magnum Short Barrel from my J-frame revolver. The Short Barrel cartridge gives energy of 294 ft lb (135 grains, 990 ft/sec) compared with well over 500 ft lb of energy for full house 357 magnums. Is the Short Barrel magnum cartridge really objectionable from a noise or any other point of view -- I've never fired one so don't know from personal experience?

PS: Received my CHL the other day -- it took 30 days from sending in the application.

I too enjoy this range (took my CHL Class there last year). I just wish I lived closer to it. Distance is the ONLY thing keeping from going there on a weekly basis!

I live close to this range and it is great. The staff is nice and professional. The only problem I have is that last time I went there was a lot of young shooters. Who I assume where all of age to own a hand gun but where still very young and it was clear they were inexperienced with firearms. They could have used a class in firearm safety. They were rapid firing pretty fast and where all over the place on the silhouette at 7 yards. Some young guy was doing this to impress his girlfriend and then she followed suite. It is a little scary when its in a concrete tunnel and you have a greater chance of ricocheting. I politely asked the range master behind the window if I could move to the other room and he had no problem with it. Don't get me wrong its a great range but I get nervous around young shooters (or any shooter for that matter) who rapid fires and doesn't have good grouping because they are just trying to see how fast they can unload a pistol. It is just a little scary when your in the stall next to them. Great range!

another successful trip to shiloh this past saturday. picked up 1k rounds of .223 from a fellow board member, brought the wife and my old man. the wife got to shoot the px4 i picked up for her (also from another board member). she had a great time, except when a hot casing landed inside her tank top. all the gents (self included) got quite a chuckle from her dancing around trying to get it out of her shirt. got a very more shot up targets to use in my quest to "wallpaper" my garage. i have got to find a range close to carrollton.

god bless.
