Moderator contacted me. Will not be posting. I don't think he had any hidden agendas, just trying to get the word out of what he thought was the truth.

I talked to the guy who was on duty this afternoon. He backed away from saying that the requirements for a CHL were changing. He said he had "heard" that the regulations might change.

I pointed out that HB2730 (81st Legislative Session) contained no provision for changing CHL test requirements. (It actually relaxes some requirements.)

Perhaps they will back off repeating rumors now.

I see no point in publicizing the name of the store. I don't want them to find this thread by searching for their own name (which businesses do). Everyone who who follows this forum and lives around here knows.

How does following the forum help if it's against the rules to say the names of CHL instructors who don't know the CHL law?

Anyone who follows this forum or does a quick search can find out that these rumors are false. The text of HB 2730 is there for everyone to read:
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... HB2730.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... alysis.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/administra ... bility.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you're not planning to take a CHL course in Galveston County in the next few months, it doesn't matter. Furthermore, I don't want possible libel accusations because of hearsay and telephone conversations.

It's not against the rules. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor, and Seamus knows whereof he speaks.

This is very true, which is why I'm so annoyed with a particular instructor who is capitalizing on these "changes" to solicit class registrations at the gun shows. We'll all forgive a simple misunderstanding, but when he's been approached by several instructors telling him that he's mistaken and he continues to use this tactic to sell classes, you've got to wonder. There's ill-informed and hard-headed, and then there's slimy and underhanded.
