I am also thinking that handguns would be smuggled in through the same channels as illegal drugs.

When do you think the most peaceful time in History was? Not criticizing, just curious.

Using facts and logic to debate with a liberal? Good luck! :tiphat:

No kidding. I have a different tactic. Don't hang around liberals. There is no hope for them.

I am actually more of a libertarian than I am a conservative...I believe in maximum freedom and minimum government. So I tend to disagree with some of the Republican party's stance on some issues, but agree with them on others (such as gun control).

I had a friend recently ask me about a couple of high-profiles shootings recently, and asked me how I could justify the right to keep and bear arms in the light of such tragedies. I did a quick Google search and pointed out to him that in both of the cases he cited, the shooter was a known felon or was legally not permitted to purchase a firearm. I pointed out that the the law didn't stop them from obtaining firearms, and that making all guns illegal would just make it so that law-abiding citizens were unarmed. I then stated that I own firearms BECAUSE of tragedies like that...so I can defend myself and my family if I ever find myself in that sort of situation.

I'm don't think I convinced him 100%, but he did say that I had some good points.
