What if they expand the (existing, right now) National Firearms Registry to include all firearms? And then expand the 1986 ban on manufacture?

Move to Tahiti?

Seriously though, we can "what if" infinite scenarios. The question is "is it likely to happen?" My bet is no it won't. And I assume you are referring to the NFA as the "national firearms registry".

The UN Police Force will come in black helicopters. You'll recognize them by their powder blue helmets. They have a mind control ray that they broadcast into your house. It forces you to retrieve all your guns and place them in a trash bag on your front lawn for collection.

To beat this you take a baseball cap and cover it with tin foil inside and out. You crumple up some more foil and make two antennae that stick up like horns. These are the ray foiling reflectors. The ray will not affect you and instead will be reflected back. "rlol"

Anyway, what do you need guns for? They're dangerous. You are probably one of those people with a semi-automatic-assault-weapon with a 200round banana clip that sprays armor piercing dum-dum bullets at 2000 per second. Only the Carrollton Police are highly trained enough to be trusted with guns. :banghead:

Ok Scott, that does it. I'm going out to the garage to make my tin foil hat after I buy my 1 way ticket to Tahiti. :smilelol5:

I agree the idea is far fetched to say in the least, but I'm a worrier... and an eagle scout, so as they say, "Be prepared".

In all seriousness, I think that with recent Heller decision by the Supreme Court upholding the right to "keep and bear arms" as an individual right, the federal government is much more constrained in its ability to "ban all firearms". I also think MacDonald is likely to result in SCOTUS incorporating the 2nd amendment protection to the States.

I think we're farther away (Constitutionally) from your concern than we have been at any time since the nineteenth century. On the other hand, Constitutional restraints on the federal government have generally been getting weakened since the 1930's.

That's my serious take.

Now go make your tinfoil hat!

I think Obama might try some sneaky back door ban like an ammo ban because it will cost too much to buy back all the guns. At first, I was afraid that Obama may buy back all the guns like they did in Australia, but upon closer inspection, Australia has much less firearm owners than America per capita. There are 200 million guns in America. The average gun costs $400-500. That's $100 BILLION dollars that the government would have to cough up in order to buy all the guns from the private citizens who own them. That's on top of the TRILLIONS of dollars in federal deficit we have right now. I don't think that the USA could afford to buy all those guns. Did you know that private citizens of the USA own more guns than ALL THE WORLD'S ARMIES COMBINED? Pretty amazing, huh?

One semi-famous quote, often attributed to Isoroku Yamamoto (Fleet Admiral and Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Japanese Navy during WWII), is:
You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.
Even if Yamamoto didn't say it, it's pretty accurate! :fire

Yamamoto and Tojo were adversaries and he objected to the dishonorable way the attack on Pearl harbor was executed (no one hour warning, etc.). There was a lot of in fighting and it was a chiefs-of-staff meeting in which Yamamoto had said that. I think it's his and speaks to his character.
