Did I just learn something interesting (amazing, isn't it?): The same gun will fire .45 Long Colt and 410 shells?

We have a single-shot 410, just never made the connection.
Life is for learning.

Well, the .45 LC/.410 pistols are rifled barrels, so they are not short barreled shotguns, but will shoot either if designed for it.... like The Judge and Snakeslayer and some others are... though the rifling really scaters the shot out so they are short range only with a .410
I wouldn't put a .45 LC in a .410 shotgun myself.

We've been discussing "kayak guns" on another forum and guns such as Snakeslayer derringer or judge can have a .410 in one and a .45 long colt CCI shotshell in the other for various varmits one might encounter while kayaking, so that a bullet doesn't riccochet off the water into someon'e property/boat etc across the lake.

I have a Bond Century 2000 derringer with 3" chambers in 3 1/2" barrels. Therefore, I have 1/2" of rifling at the muzzle of each barrel. So you should expect poor accuracy using .45 Colt loads beyond maybe 15'. However, Bond also sells dedicated .45 Colt barrel sets (and a wide selection of other calibers) that are fully rifled and are not designed for .410 shells.

Rather than buy another .45 Colt barrel set, I've been considering a set in .44 Special.
