Unless you're at Disney World or running a garage sale a fanny pack is a dead giveaway.

Most importantly, like a salute or a wave, it's intended to show the dominant hand is empty and in a non-threatening posture. The fist bump completely defeats that.

In a church or family gathering I am super aware of who's approaching me from which way. I typically carry IWB in these circumstances and will just drop my arm when it looks like a hug is coming. I am not twitchy like I used to be but I can still smell an ambush...even if it is to garner affection.

On topic: You might seriously want to consider adjusting your gear/clothing. Ask handog why.

Ive never had a problem before until this past week. Even my parents who know I carry were surprised they couldnt tell.
As for the couch situation, my shirt was actually long and loose. I think the problem was that my holster worked its way towards the small of my back in an awkward position (at least for me). Put that together with the fact that I was sitting on a couch for 30 min and something was bound to snag. I think my lesson learned form that experience was to make sure im "presentable" before I get up, not after the fact.
And as for my touchy friend....I have always had questions about him
But seriously though...Im on the worship team at my church and after service its a race to pack up the gear, grab the kiddos, and get home before they start getting to cranky. So my level of alertness tends to go down. And the first time he touched me (ok, now that just sounds bad!) I was running off to pack up some gear and he just kinda reached out to grab my attention. I think every time after that he just started doing it to confirm his suspicion. He had never done it before. I guess I'll see if he continues doing it. And if he does, I might just have to give him one of those fist bumps...to the face. And tell him only my wife is allowed to touch my love handles
