It's still 3500 acres of an American Federal park that are off limits to American citizens due to "human safety concerns". I can only guess what those concerns are.
If only I could be dictator for a year, I'd get so many things cleaned up....

It has been closed since 2006. I don't remember hearing any stink being made of it then. I don't remember hearing about it at all. The violence has, reportedly, decreased. The only thing I wonder is what is being done with the illegals that have been occupying the area.

I think it's better to use it for sniper training and practice. They'll cause less damage to the plants and animals in the wildlife refuge.

A former colleague suggested we call that zone "New Gaza"
I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

How long indeed! America awaits your answer Mr. Obama!

The Sherrif in that area of Arizona was a big negative nancy on the whole Arizona ILLEGAL immigration law...And was pretty vocal about it...
Now that he has a problem like this, he shows his true colors by whining like a little girl because he can't handle the problem...
That is a politician that needs to be fired at the earliest opportunity...

I only had time to post this link yesterday with no comment.
I am glad we have the internet. We don’t have to rely solely on the media to provide accurate information.
I agree with IKD, “[sarcasm] telling legal citizens they can't enter an area because illegal invaders are busy using that space is a great strategy to solve the problem [/sarcasm] .

”
I sent our Gov. an e-mail stating that I hope Texas has the courage to back Arizona. No reply, and our Governor has never made a public statement that Texas backs Arizona’s right to pass its own laws.
When did Texas lose its cajones?
Sorry about that word moderators but that is the
only way I could think of to say what I believe. Please don’t ban me.

Why should Texas interject itself into another soveriegn State's business? We sure don't like it when they interject themselves into ours.

I don't see expressing support for Arizona's immigration law as "interjecting ourselves" into their business.
JMHO
YMMV

Because Texas shares common concerns with Arizona. Granted....the Rio Grande may be more of a barrier, but it is not much of a deterrent over that of Arizona's. As I see it, the issues are the same....only on a different magnitude....perhaps.
The
Voice of this great State is the Governor. And I see no reason why our
Voice would
not show some kind of support to one of our sister states that shares our same concerns.
My opinion only.

Once on site, about 2 days depending on the ROE.

I am not saying the state of Texas has to take a position on
whether the law is right or wrong, just that
Texas supports the right of Arizona to make its own laws.
As an example, my oldest daughter does not want guns in her house. I do not agree with her but
I respect her right to make that rule.
It is her house. Therefore I leave my gun in the car when we go visit and we stay in a motel.
With California boycotting Arizona along with some other states and cities I believe our governor should express our support for Arizona.
It seems to me
Arizona has the courage and independence Texas used to have.
Before anyone slams me for that last sentence, I love Texas. It is the greatest state in the USA. Texas not only has everything anyone would want (from seashore to desert to tall pine forests) Texans have always shown courage, independence, friendliness and a willingness to help others.
What more could I say to get my point across?

Because it's an election year? And the WORST thing that could possibly happen for CHL holders is for Bill "Ban All Guns" White to have even a slim chance of winning?
It's wiser to look at the Texas GOP, who will almost certainly control the agenda for the upcoming legislative session. And believe me, immigration is a big concern to them:

I'm sure you will see Rick Perry begin to talk about "common sense border control" measures to fill in the federal gubbamint's policy gaps once the elections are put to bed.

The Federal Government is going to file a lawsuit against Arizona over the new immigration law.
For anyone that wants to express support for Arizona-
