Even in our small, close-knit office I (and my boss, the CIO) would have a *huge* issue with folks using proxy servers to get around Internet access restrictions. Of course, I have my firewall configured to block out proxy usage as well, but if I even found attempts in the log files then the user(s) making said attempts would be in for a very unpleasant day...and potential a final one w/ regard to employment.

Brian, is that you?

The SysAd for my old company even blocked Google Earth which I, along with a couple of other engineers, used for our work daily.

Back on topic, Fox always used to be a little more conservative than the other networks, which is, I think, why they fought them so hard.

Try http://proxify.com/, might solve your problems. If not, there's a group on yahoo that will email you new proxy servers daily. :tiphat:
I'll check it out tomorrow. I sent this link to my work email.

Thanks.

C-dub,
If a company is restricting internet usage and blocking sites, they may also be doing other types of employee monitoring, e.g. email surveillance. Do yourself a favor and don't use your company email for personal business.

I'm not Brian and my users know I create firewall exceptions for work-related access with little to no fuss. That being said, I just can't imagine some things, like Google Earth, having much to do w/ the business of the Law Firm I work for.

You could also do work at work and save the other stuff for your own time.

As an IS guy I have no sympathy for people why try to bypass security on work computers. We report any attempts to the person's immediate supervisor and to HR to document the violation.
