Now, if it does come on Friday - I'll check the mail when I get home from work and we are leaving Saturday morning.
So I'll only have Friday evening to do a Wally-Walk before I'm traveling out of state with it. Maybe I should do a Wally-Walk, HEB Hop, Kroger Krawl all in the same night. I was hoping for a little more time to get comfortable being in public. (But I'm not complaining, mind you!) I have printed the state by state guide for Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma from
http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
I've spent a lot of time reading the "New to CHL" thread - but not a lot about out of state travel. Any other tips for a greenhorn traveling out of state I should keep in mind?

Well since I seem to be on a roll here, I'll go ahead and predict that it arrives in Friday's mail.
I've got my fingers crossed for you!

I'd suggest you also look in the "Other States" area. Not everything in there will apply to your trip/situation, but it's also good reading (as are all the other forum areas).

Thanks larryh. I found that last night and dug through it quite a bit. As I mentioned, I also have the guidelines printed from
http://www.handgunlaw.us/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It's tough when you have just barely learned rules for Texas to try to memorize another states rules.

That's why the printer is your friend. When we drove North two years ago, I printed out the synopses for OK, KS, MO, SD, MN and ND (no need for NB or Iowa at the time -- the guns were in the safe for those two states) and reviewed those for the next day in the motel each night.

I checked the mailbox today and ... no joy.
I was denied.

I am soo bummed. I know it will come tomorrow - just a few hours after we leave.
So now I have unloaded my piece and locked it with a trigger lock in my suitcase. I will put the ammo and magazines in another case and travel as a regular schmoe. At least I will still be protected once we get in the cabin.
Oh well, it was a good run. At least I will have it when I get back.

It's alright - thanks for sticking in there with me. In a week, when I get back and get my plastic - not having it on this trip will be a distant memory. Its my own fault anyway for waiting so long. I almost got it over a year ago but we decided to spend the money elsewhere. (Course I didn't know at the time that there was a veteran discount).
