I have Xd40 and 357sig in 4" bbls and Xd40sc 3" carried in Supertuck. Also .45acp 1911s in 3", 3/12", 4" 4.25" and 5" also carried in Supertuck. Variety of bbls. in same platforms so muscle memory remains the same. Just be comfortable with what you buy and carry.

This thread has nothing to do with delusions of grandeur or any other neuroses or psychoses. Please take your meds and rejoin the conversation!

IMO, compact models rarely shoot the same or have the same feel as the full size model. You may find a pair you like, but I don't see for me.

The other issue is I want a compact/concealable gun to be smaller and slimmer. That is not what I want in a full size pistol. And I positively hate pistols that force some fingers to hang off the end of the grip.

Each to his own I guess.

My first Semi-Auto was a Glock (always had revolvers). I liked my 21 so much that i had visions of owning a Glock in each caliber and different sizes.

Then things changed.

A friend of mine was hurting for cash so he sold me his Kimber Tactical Pro II. Well that ruined me as far as purchasing more Glocks. I still have it, but it doesn't see much daylight. I have since purchased a Kimber in all three sizes 3", 4", and 5" models and a couple of Colt 1911's.

I like the fact that all of them basically feel the same in my hand, and have identical controls.

Another plus is that all three sizes fit perfectly in my Crossbreed Supertuck.

I didn't see where anyone mentioned the Sig 250 2sum.

You can get it in different calibers, it comes with night sights, it's a good pistol and since it's under $700 that's like buying 2 guns for under $350 each!

I carry a 1911 alot along with a Sig P238 witch is basically a minature 1911. Same controls.

I now have all three barrel sizes in 1911. Colt 5" and Colt 3" Defender. I haven't tried to carry the 5", because I just figured, "which may be wrong" it would be harder to conceal. And ofcource the Defender conceals quite nicely. The baby I now carry is the Kimber Super Carry Pro. All my weapons are in 45 cal. I have never shot anything in 1911 that wasn't a 45 cal. But have considered the 9MM. Would like to try one just for giggles ad grins.
Better not. Might have to buy one. Then momma might steal it. Already having hard time keeping my guns away from her. She loves the 45's.

Until one gun has a malfunction and you try to transition to the "second gun" as a BUG, or you want to arm your buddy or wife/girlfriend to back you up, but that might be good if you live somewhere your permit has to list each gun you're allowed to legally carry.

I'm jealous. I have the Ultra and wouldn't mind having the full set, but I've got my eye on the Stainless Raptor for a full-size 1911.

I have a 3" 1911 and a 5" 1911 with a 4" 1911 on my wish list. Both I have are currently .45ACP but might go with a 9MM on the 4" but it will still be a 1911 in either a Kimber or STI.

I like my 100% trouble free Kahr PM9 so much that I bought the Kahr P380 to go with it. The P380 has had so many troubles that it went back to the factory and I am now patiently waiting for its return. So much for the value of staying with the same platform.
The sad part is that I gave my 100% trouble free Keltek P3AT to my son because I was so sure the Kahr P380 would be as good as the PM9 I own and the P9 my wife shoots.
