But, that's why I liked the 75B, it was steel.

Some of us are partial to metal guns in general, myself included. While TAM is right that INITIALLY a gun will feel much heavier on your hip, after carrying it daily for a while, you should adjust. (YMMV)

I have worn the .500 for several days in a row while hunting. It comes in at 5.5 lbs when loaded. With a proper belt, it's not bad. Without a gun belt, I can't stand it on my hip all day. My daily carry is a beretta 96 that comes in at around 35 ounces. With the crossbreed holster and a decent belt, I hardly notice the beretta after the first day or two.

I am a "large" guy, so maybe it's just easier for me to adjust to the heavier guns. I also used to be an operator so I carried around a tool pouch with 440 channelocks, a valve wrench, and a flashlight on my strong side hip for 12 hours at a time, so maybe that has conditioned me to carrying on my hip, who knows.

Bottom line: You should get a good gun belt and a good holster no matter what you are carrying. This is ESPECIALLY important if your going to be carrying a full size gun.

As was pointed out in another thread (I'm too lazy this morning to find it and post the link),

If the gun is too heavy, just leave the bullets out, makes it much lighter.

If your in the market for a CZ, also consider the RAMI. Its the subcompact version of the 75. Probably a lot easier to conceal than the 75.

You can get a CHL in the next few months.

Join the Texas National Guard, go to Basic Training and AIT. Come home and serve one weekend and month and two weeks of Annual Training. There is the chance you may be called to active duty (then you can open carry). You can even have some of you college paid by the state.

Members of the Active Armed Forces, Reserves, and National Guard can get a CHL at 18. I believe that the cost of the CHL is waived.

(g) Notwithstanding Subsection (a)(2), a person who is at least 18
years of age but not yet 21 years of age is eligible for a license to carry
a concealed handgun if the person:
(1) is a member or veteran of the United States armed forces, including
a member or veteran of the reserves or national guard;
(2) was discharged under honorable conditions, if discharged
from the United States armed forces, reserves, or national guard; and
(3) meets the other eligibility requirements of Subsection (a) except
for the minimum age required by federal law to purchase a handgun.

Hey there,
I am fairly new to this forum as well. There seems to be a wealth of information for use new CHLers. In reference to your question about the cz-75. I have never shot one personally,but I do heard they are great guns( reliable and affordable). I would defiantly recommend handling both the cz-75 and cz-75 compact. I personally found the trigger to be to far forward on the 75. The compact model fit my hand like a glove and seems to be much better suited for concealment. Ultimately you should pick the one your will be most comfortable with.
