Many of our hearts are with you Mojo in the sharing your loss and sadness. I thank God we can have them and I thank Him even more that we can feel as deeply as we do, both in their lives and at their loss.

I don't tell many jokes and I'm certainly not one to tell macho men jokes where women are the brunt of the joke. But with that said and to perhaps lighten the mood for a moment on this occasion, so...

Do you know the difference between a new bride and a new puppy? After a year the puppy is still happy to see you come home.

MoJo,

I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a faithful companion is one of the hardest things I've ever experienced. We have a 12 year old Australian Shepherd/Rotty mix whose time is soon coming I'm afraid. It's hard to even think about coming home and not having her run out to greet me.

Sandy sounds like she was quite a character. I pray that her memory will always bring a smile to your heart.

T.

Mojo,

When my Marty passed Oct 2008, a friend of the family gave us a little pillow that has the following saying on it. it helped me immensely with the loss, I hope it does for you as well.
Heaven is the place where all the dogs you've ever loved come to greet you!
I think about that every day, and truly believe that Marty will be up there waiting when I get there.

Oh, ouch. Losing one of my critters tears me up more than anything. So sorry to hear about yours. My yellow lab Chester is snoring away behind me, for once on his own bed since the Cats Who Rule the House have apparently decided to sleep elsewhere. Gonna go scratch his ears.

I think Bufi was 13 when we put her down. She was almost blind. She was almost deaf
(or she had trained herself to ignore our calls). She had arthritis in her hips. I had to
help her to her feet so she could pee in the morning. For our previous long trip, we
found a person to care for her. When we returned, Bufi was really stove up. Bufi almost
could not even walk. She had been kept in a cage for most of six weeks. So for the next
trip, we had her put to sleep. That was ten years ago. Writing this has caused me to start
leaking around the eyes.

You have my most sincere condolences.
Hoot

Inner Strength

If you can start the day without caffeine or pep pills,

If you can be cheerful, ignoring aches and pains,

If you can resist complaining and boring people with you troubles,

If you can eat the same food everyday and be grateful for it,

If you can understand when loved ones are too busy to give you time,

If you can overlook when people take things out on you when, though no
fault of yours, something goes wrong,

If you can take criticism and blame without resentment,

If you can face the world without lies and deceit,

If you can conquer tension without medical help,

If you can relax without liquor,

If you can sleep without the aid of drugs,

If you can do all these things,

Then you are probably the family dog.

Sorry for your loss.

My deepest sympathy and condolences on the loss of your family member. I love my dogs as if they were my (human) children and when it is time for them to cross the rainbow bridge it saddens me. Knowing I was able to care and love one of God's greatest creatures helps me make it through the ordeal. We will meet on the other side.

Mojo,
You have my deepest sympathy. You will find other companions to help fill the void, however, there will always be a small hole in your heart. In time you will recall only the good times, those memories will hold you until you cross "Rainbow Bridge" together.

Funny you should post your loss at this particular time. For the last 3 or 4 days I have been thinking of "Cat". Cat was a yellow tabby who adopted my family when he was a small kitten. Cat was never aloof as most cats are, he was very loving and enjoyed a good pet or rubbing, much like a dog. When a family member was sick and hurting, Cat knew, and he would cuddle up to comfort them.

When my daughter left to attend Baylor Law, she took Cat with her for companionship. While there, Cat became terminally ill and the vet thought it best we put him to sleep. Cat was a member of my family for about 11 years, and had comforted me in times of illness. The hole in my heart is made larger, because I did not make the trip from Dallas to Waco to comfort him in his illness. I have not held Cat in 3 years. Now, I so wish I had been there to hold and comfort him as he peacefully crossed Rainbow Bridge.

I need to go now. Please excuse any misspelled words. There's something in my eye,I'm having trouble seeing the screen.

Rainbow Bridge, what a beautiful story!

Thanks to all who have offered words of comfort. We will be accepting applications and conducting interviews for a new member of our K9 security team in a little while.
