I think that black lever gun looked AWESOME! I am planning on buying a stainless 1894C. Now I have a model to go by. Mine will be black and stainless though.

I put a Sightron big sky 1.25-5x on mine. It is prefect for it. It is a small light wieght scope and has a perfect power range for that caliber.

Here is one of my wife shooting it. Getting a cheek weld when putting a scope on one is pretty much not possible, but in reality those stocks are made for irons. But for a plinking gun it works just fine.

I figured 10 shots of .357 in a rifle in the truck would be a nice complement to the .45 and or .357 snubby that normally rides around with me. Its easy handling, but a pain to load (so far, need to get the hang of it). Can't wait to go shoot this thing!

That's just way too nice for a trunk gun. A trunk gun needs to be something that works well, but you don't mind it getting scuffed up - because it already is. At least that's my definition. otherwise it's a great choice.
For the sights, consider a Williams peep sight. Bolts on, low profile, no batteries, rugged. I have them on two of my leverguns.

I have a Marlin 1894 in .357, but wouldn't use it for this. The main purpose I see for a trunk gun is to do something that your carry or car handgun can't. While a .357 carbine can reach out further than a handgun, it can't reach as far as a true rifle caliber. Rifle calibers can also penetrate soft body armor, which, as the Tyler courthouse shooting taught us, could be a consideration in a self-defense shooting.

My usual trunk gun is a Keltec SU16
Folds into a compact size, in a soft case, with 50 rounds.
Doesn't say 'gun' when carrying it.
I don't even think it registers on the wife when I'm packing the car for a trip.
