Like stated above if you were not convicted of a felony then you CAN legally own a firearm. Differed with probation is not a conviction therefor it sounds like you are legal as long as you carried out your probation without any violations or further convictions. Or you could just go try and buy one at a local shop and see what the background comes back with. Its either black or white on this topic, there is no gray area.

From my understanding, Deferred Adjudication only counts as a conviction toward getting a CHL and only getting a CHL, but as far as purchasing, owning or carrying a firearm in the car, it does not count as a conviction.
