You are absolutely right about the potential consequences he might have faced.
The post doesn't contain any information to suggest that the woman did anything to "make" this guy do what he did (other than possibly being attractive and in that particular place at that particular time). He volunteered all by himself.

More years ago than I like to admit, I walked up to my '63 Chevy Impala Super Sport, stuck the key in the door, unlocked it, and hopped in, much to the surprise of the woman seated in the passenger seat.
My key even started their car.
Found out that Chevy only had eight or ten different keys at that time.

All kidding aside, I would like to commend Mr. RPBrown for his restraint and good sense .
The same situation with another motorcycle owner could have escalated into a really bad scenario where a Bozo could have been shot for just being a clown.
