The mens group at my church goes shooting together, and about half of us carry on a regular basis. We have one priest who asks when we are shooting clays again...total nut for the sport.
I doubt if our priests carry, but there are enough of the flock that do.

I still carry in church, and my mother thinks I'm offending God.
I used to carry on my body, but now I carry in the diaper bag. When I take Hannah to her Sunday school class, I have a smaller bag folded up, and I just put a few diapers, wetbag (we use cloth diapers), and her sippy cup in it, and I keep the main bag with me.
Once I wean Hannah (or at least get her to the point where she only eats at home), I'll start carrying in the waistband again.

Disarming in places of worship probably goes back to the days of bronze swords in some cultures. If I could have a gaurantee that God would strike dead any evildoer attempting to enter his house with a weapon in hand and foul deeds in his heart, then maybe wouldn't feel the need to bring mine. Until then, I think it's our responsibility to look after ourselves, no matter where we are.

I remember after the Wedgwood shooting in Fort Worth, I was asked at the station what would happen if something like that occurred at my congregation. I looked up from my coffee and said, "About six would return fire."

I have been to lots of churches which have at least one cross. 
Historically, guns are less lethal than crosses, showing that in our church, we respect life, and intend to protect it.
Every armed CHL ion our church knows to shoot to STOP, rather than shoot to kill. The number of bullets a person of evil intentions requires to get the message to stop, is up to him.
As at Dragonfighter's church, at least 6 would return fire, including the Pastor and Deacons and ex-LEO and his CHL girlfriend and others in the congregation.

I go to a small biker freindly church and I know of at least 12 that carry including myself. Not for sure how many carry.
In our mens bible study about a year ago, there was a topic about defending yourself. Our associate pastor made comment that he always carries a gun and one of the men screamed "you carry a gun in church". The pastor told him that he would be surprised at how many were carrying in there. After all, we just a bunch of bikers. Shut him up pretty quick.
No on the side note to that story, the man that made that outburst, has since gotten his chl and I am sure he carries in church.

Anyone who locks their car doors in a church parking lot should consider it okay for someone who's licensed to carry in church.

I could not help but notice your location is College Station. I was born and raised here and currently hanging out with the "roommates" (parents) before starting grad school. What church did you go to? Was it in College Station?

Many here go to churches where hugging is common .... the only advice I can offer is "Go Low"
In other words, Put your arms lower than theirs, so they hug your neck.

But the legal definition of premises is a building or portion of a building and the parking lot is therefore not part of the House of God premises.
How about locking church doors?
And this does nothing for the argument that if they are martyred for their faith while attending church that they accept that martyr's death willingly. Some people are much better at that having no earthly attachments or cares bit than I am.

I am in the Choir at a large Church. I always sit in the middle of the choir where I have the main aisle directly in front of me. I have a good view of all that enter and leave the worship service. I have added a Crimson trace laser to my Glock to hopefully make my shots more accurate in a tight envirnoment. I hope and pray that I am not the only good guy carrying because the pulpit area will probably be the first target for any bad guys.
I also go to a 'hugging" church. I carry on the left side, so I have learned to put my left hip against the hugger and they put their hand on my right side away from the gun.
