Charles,

That is what the law states, so can you help answer the question about the Gun Shows that are held at Pasadena Convention Center.
It is city owned. For the gun shows, a private entity leases the space and they post big and bold the 30.06 and they have officers there enforcing it.
I comply with the 30.06 law but since the law doesn't apply to me in government owned convention centers, I ignore the meaningless signs. You'll notice the police officers shopping at the shows don't disarm or unload either.

I admire your pluck. The last time I went to a Fort Worth show, I observed what appeared to be metal detectors at the entrance. They might not have been metal detectors, but I didn't want to find out the hard way. Are you prepared to "take the ride" over that? You might win in court, but it won't be without cost. I would rather be armed, but I'm not prepared to go downtown and sit behind bars while my wife puts up our home as collateral so I can make bail. So, I disarm before going in.

I know, I know.... I'm a sheeple and all that crud.

And for what it's worth, the nice officers are open carrying too, because the law allows them to do so.... ...the same law that allows them to walk past a 30.06 sign when they're on duty.

The same laws that allow me to walk past an irrelevant 30.06 sign.

Yes they are, and I'm not disputing that. Did you see where I mentioned metal detectors? If you set them off, you may have the law on your side, but you won't have the cops on your side. They are going to take you down town, and all your righteous certainty isn't going to protect you from that. Are you prepared for that eventuality? I don't care if you carry or not past an illegal sign. I don't think it is wrong for you to do it, and neither is it any skin off my nose if you get popped for it. I didn't say don't do it. I just asked if you had thought it all the way through. Your certainty has a certain smugness to it, and it doesn't sound like you've given much thought to what you'll do if things don't go your way.

But like I said.... no skin off my nose.

As one who disarms before going into Amarillo gun shows (also held on publicly owned property), I have to agree with TAM. Sure, I could hit up my family for money in order to beat the rap, but forget that - I have no desire to take the ride.

I agree, and I do the same. I've made it thus far in my life without being arrested and I plan to continue that.

It's not a problem at shows in Houston. Walk right in. Ignore pointless sign.

It still comes back to ' you may beat the rap, but not the ride'
Are you willing to go to Jail, even wrongly to walk past a 30.06?

To me that's like asking
"Are you willing to go to Jail, even wrongly, to carry in a grocery store?"
or
"Are you willing to go to Jail, even wrongly, to carry in your car?"

Legal is legal (and concealed is concealed) so I guess my answer is YES.

I personally think a whole lot of us, lawyers in tow, should as a group, attend a gun show at a location that is government property, wearing these t-shirts, and refuse to disarm.

And see what happens :thumbs2:

I think that would be interesting! However, it could be very expensive, unless we had the lawyers Pro Bono

I would like to see however, 100 or more CHL's go to one that is on City owned property, with signs, standing outside the doors, saying something like
"We would all like to enter the gun show to purchase weapons, but the illegal 30.06 sign out front prevents us from doing so"

Imaging, 100 of us, or 500 of us, all with $400 - $800 in our hands, ready to purchase, and having all the promoters or vendors looking at the $4,000 to $40,000 in revenue they potentially lost

Quick clarification. The sign is not illegal, just not enforceable. :thumbs2:
It is not illegal to post a sign at a place where it has no weight. They just cannot enforce it.

But if there are metal detectors and security or police there enforcing it, then it is invalid and an abuse against one's rights.
