And I think this is precisely what some folks think may be undeveloped in college aged young people.

It would be no different than the same thing happening in a Quiznos or Starbucks. (Except maybe enhanced penalty for the thief.)

So basically, you're saying that there should be no CHL at all, since these things can happen anywhere if you're not attentive enough?

idiot professors are worried they would be shot for expressing their socialistic views and refuse to teach where guns are allowed. Not my opinion., theirs.

Do those people object to police officers in the same age group carrying a handgun?

I’m not saying that there shouldn’t be CHL’s or not to allow them on campus, I was only trying to play devils advocate. Back then, I was irresponsible enough to have lost my wallet in the backpack. It was so easy for me to become wrapped up with the moment that a backpack at my feet disappeared. These days this would never occur as I’m always looking over my shoulder but when I was younger, I wasn’t. It took years and experience, mainly from joining a police department to develop the sense of responsibility that I have now.

There's CHL Holders in their classes
now. The fact that they aren't carrying at that time, doesnt negate their status as a CHL.
Are they terrified of failing them now?
Aren't they worried that since all CHL holders can apparently 'snap', that if they fail them, they'll go home, get their gun, come back and shoot them?
Oh wait, thats right, CHL Holders don't advertise who they are, and even if they were carrying you wouldn't know, because concealed is concealed.
Also, CHL Holders being law abiding citizens is exactly what is preventing them from carrying on campus now.
If they didn't care about breaking the law, they'd be carrying guns on there already!
Are they worried now about people carrying guns ILLEGALLY in their classrooms?
Do they think that it doesn't happen?
I can guarantee you that someone, somewhere, illegally carries a gun to class on a daily basis.
Sure, they're worried about failing that CHL, but they're not worried about failing that gangbanger... because "He CAN'T be carrying... it's Illegal!"
Seriously.. do these people who come up with these arguments even understand logic?

And THESE are the great brains that are teaching our youth!

Both of my sons went to college. The oldest attended Lamar University and has a masters degree. The yougest attended UT Austin and has a bachelors degree.
When they were growing up, I trained them in proper safe handling of firearms. They shot all of my rifles and handguns, hunted, and were very good at it. They kept their own shotguns in their rooms. They knew from an early age that unsafe handling was not tolerated.
I bought the oldest one hs first BB gun. We went through the 4 rules, learned the parts of the rifle, shot it, had a great time. I told him it was a real firearm and to nevr point it at anything he did not want to destroy.
I caught him playing outside with it and saw him point it at another child. I interrupted him, made him show me it was not loaded, took it from him and wore his little tail out with my belt. He got it back when he came to me and told me he understood and promised to treat fireamrs properly.
The bottom line is that typically, the ones who will obtain their CHL and carry on campus are going to be the ones who are raised in our culture. My youngest packs, the oldest one does not. The oldest one's wife is an indoctrinated teacher who has drank the koolaid of zero tolerance. She told me she didn't want me to carry around my grandchildren. Over the years she has mellowed some, and my carry status does not come up.
Campus carry will work. Gun free campuses don't. There is no logic that can defend gun free zones. There is no argument against it that can be defended with reason because all of theeir justification is false. Gun free zones are based on feelings not fact.

As someone stated above, all of the horrible things that "could" happen if CHL'ers were allowed to carry on campus "could" happen every day, everywhere else in TX also.
A campus is no different. Don't differentiate/discriminate. My life is no more special there as a student as it is elsewhere as a non-student.

Ahhhh. My bad. I apologize. I didn't pick up on the "devil's advocate" thing. If it makes you feel better, you were
VERY convincing!

1 good reason to not employ "off-body" carry, but rather to use IWB/ankle/shoulder holsters or belly bands or thunderwear or concealment Tee-shirts etc etc etc. That's a possibility anywhere any time, for purse carry at malls etc .... but you rarely hear of such a thing occurring, so statistically, not a big worry. Perhaps one should use one of the security devices like you have for a Laptop computer, on the backpack too if one insists on carrying in a backpack, rather than a place it could be accessed easily if needed?
Or, a car gun safe? I imagine there's a market for those safes that get stolen at pawn shops, even empty ones.

I would see the professors carrying. Which to me would make the campus much safer.
